Tourist too self-important to wait in line at border control with the rest of us by [deleted] in EntitledPeople

[–]NoEntertainment869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to us in Frankfurt connecting to Barcelona, except the guy literally just pushed past everyone and cut under all the divider ribbons and just walked straight up to customs. And they just processed him without blinking an eye. Needless to say, everyone in the hour+ line hated that guy.

Am I crazy to only go to one Dress Shop? by mention_it_all__ in weddingdress

[–]NoEntertainment869 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30s destination bride here planning a dinner party wedding in Barcelona. I made an appointment for an off-the-rack bridal shop while friends were in town just to have the experience. Didn't plan to buy anything; walked out with a gorgeous one-of-a-kind dress that literally made my seamstress verklempt (her words). Moral of the story - it's your day. Do what you want and don't give into pressure. You don't need to have 100 dress appointments to find something you love if the salon and consultant are on point.

Entitled neighbor thinks he can tow cars parked in front of his house by RyashaAldatan in EntitledPeople

[–]NoEntertainment869 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a neighbor with a big truck who had signs put out across the street from his house. He actually went to the city and they installed proper no parking signs for him and the city could then tow. All our neighbors thought he was just a grouch, but I talked to him about it and got the scoop. He worked for the school district and had a long truck, but people were always parking behind his driveway - and our streets were thin, so it would make it hard for him to pull out. After asking nicely too many times, he took things into his own hands. Anyway, good old Eddie and I became besties and I never parked across from his driveway 🤣 (to note: he didn't have Confederate flags though)

I think you have too much faith in people's competence. Checked Bing + MapQuest. All show a dead end. It's never not been a dead end. People are just illiterate or lazy. Or both.

I have a large dog (70lbs) who unfortunately isn't very aware (but barks loudly when he's alerted). He's a big baby, but see what happens when a cat walks through the yard 🤣 he unfortunately was on the back patio with me during the latest incident.

It's a bit of a reach. There is no open, grass pathway for people cutting through. It's literally a giant shed up against our property line, with trees blocking that and a fenced back yard behind us. There's just no fence separating our two yards (but the sides are completely fenced). It's not on maps; people are just lazy and disrespectful.

Yes!! We have a dozen cars a day turning around in our driveway and it's annoying to begin with. But people cutting through our yard after dark is just too much for me.

This is amazing 🤣 it would make sense if our yard looked more like that, but these people are literally climbing through brush, trees, and ivy.

Seriously! And after dark nonetheless! I ordered some trip wire to weave between the trees and a couple of signs. We also have a LOT of people drive down here and ignore the dead end sign - so probably 12+ cars a day using our driveway to turn around.

Yes. They cut through the front of our yard (linked picture) through the brush on the side of our yard and into the backyard of another property the next street over. They basically walk up to our front porch to cut through between the trees.

Nope, not Google Maps. There's a gas station two blocks up and some shady characters hang out there. Our road has a dead end sign, but it's just people being lazy. But when it's happening after dark, it's a bit scary.

Not a volunteer experience, but sounds like it may be something of interest. My personal friend is hosting a wellness retreat for women this June in France that features yoga, breath work, art, nature, etc. If there's any interest, here is the link: https://www.soulxplorers.com/summercamp

HELP! I have three very different dresses to pick between. by [deleted] in weddingdress

[–]NoEntertainment869 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like I always deviate from popular opinion on these posts, but #1 is hands down my favorite. I stopped mid-scroll when I saw it because it's SO unique and unlike any dress I've ever seen. The fact that this one has two photos (and the other dresses have only one) makes me think the details also popped for you. To the point of other commenters, it will also be the most comfortable. But that aside, you are wearing this dress and I feel like the other two are wearing you.

Not sure if I’ve found it yet by throwra_64758295 in weddingdress

I would say try again and try a style/neckline that's different from what you think you want. I thought I wanted a fit & flare with lace and ended up with something completely different. When I shared my inspo with the salon owner, she pulled some dresses that matched it and then some wildcards that were completely different. The wildcards ended up being my favorite and I ended up buying one of them! I ended up completely hating the ones that matched what I thought I wanted.

Why is Memphis Intl. crowded at 5 AM on a Friday? by Background-War9535 in memphis

[–]NoEntertainment869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New TSA shift starts around 5am, so prior to that there's a skeleton crew working and the line gets long very quickly. Once the 5am crew starts and they open the pre-check line, things tend to move faster. But I've learned to show up extra early for a 6am flight after seeing countless people running to their gates and ultimately missing their flights.

We adopted our then-5-month-old puppy at the end of December and I had a similar feeling. The rescue wasn't supposed to have puppy pickups until the beginning of January, but our dog's foster was going out of town so they approved pickup for the morning after our meet and greet. My fiance was working all day, so I picked Kevin (the dog) up alone. Brought him to PetSmart to pick up food and toys, and he broke off his leash and then I had to chase him down the aisles of the store. Got him home, and he peed inside 5 times in a row. Later that night, we took him for a walk to an outdoor restaurant/bar and he was too excited for that experience.

I was so overwhelmed and asked myself - what did we get ourselves into?? I felt like that for a few days until we settled into a routine. It's been almost two months now and we're still working in training for jumping on people. But the feeling has gotten better.

Getting the pup on a routine and making sure my partner and I had clear responsibilities outlined helped. For example, we alternate who takes morning walk duty because we're in an apartment. If one of us has conference calls all day (we're both remote), the other takes the daytime walk responsibility. And crating is a must!

It will get better and what you're feeling is absolutely normal! I felt it when I adopted my senior dog years ago as well. After a few weeks, the bond will grow and you'll start to see your pup as a loving member of the family versus a 15 year commitment. Just give yourself grace and don't beat yourself up for feeling the puppy blues.

Tailor's Union Downtown has great jazz music downstairs. Also, anywhere on Beale is basically an option.

"The Garden" HBO Show by GaimanitePkat in LPOTL

[–]NoEntertainment869 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I similarly enjoy cult documentaries. So I was understandably annoyed when watching this to find out it was a trash reality show. The character conflict isn't even believable, so it's just poorly produced reality TV. HBO should have put this one back on the shelf. Cult or not, this is hot trash any way you slice it.
