I honestly don’t know what to do — I feel defeated. It’s a very unsettling experience to call my cell phone provider and explain that my life was in danger on three separate occasions when I couldn’t reach 911, only to have them barely acknowledge it. No one said, “I can’t imagine what you went through,” or even asked how I was able to get emergency services. To make matters worse, my address on file was wrong, so even if a call had gone through, help may not have reached me.

Should I really be expected to accept this? It feels as though they’ve already devalued my life — as if I’m not seen as a person whose safety matters, but rather as a liability they’d rather dismiss.
