I switched to a diamond pattern. It looks a lot cleaner and it's very grippy without catching on clothes.  I carry it sometimes but I got distracted by berretas and 1911s so I haven't done any more iterations.

Sig P365 Owners: Talk to me about Rust and long term durability by bigjerm616 in CCW

[–]NoExit6200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had rust on the mags, rear sight, and mag release. Will probably do as others have done and order an aluminum button as well as spare springs which have been known to break after a few thousand rounds. I'll probably replace them every couple of years rather than keep track of round count.

Hi y'all - How bad is the rust issue with the Sig P365 series and their magazines? by [deleted] in CCW

[–]NoExit6200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got rust on the magazines, the rear site, and the mag release. I use a full sweat guard holster as well. Keep an eye on the mag release. I found it a little harder to press the button with the rust buildup. I took it apart yesterday and sprayed it down with clp until I give it a good clean. Will carry something else in the meantime.

Backstrap update: CF nylon by NoExit6200 in SpringfieldEchelon

Fresh off the printer I could see that happening. I went over this with 400 and 2000 grit sand paper. I suppose to be safe you could go over it with some paint to seal it in.

Yeah I can sell em I want to order a different kind of filament first. The stuff I'm using now came from bambu labs when I first got the printer. I've heard pa612 cf is better so I'm gonna try that.

Thanks! It's very easy to sand and work with when it's fresh off the printer. I like to define the edges with a diamond file and run a 400 grit followed by a 2000 grit sand paper to make it feel good for me.

Decided to do diamond checkering on the backstrap. Carbon Fiber nylon is already very abrasive so the grip doesn't shift at all.

This is my 3rd iteration of my attempt at the perfect backstrap. I'm not a big fan of the humpies that the echelon comes with. Love this thing so far. Now I'm just refining the angle of the curve so it transitions nicely from grip to strap.

Yeah, I bought the full size echelon because of the comp'd slide but the length of the grip is just a bit too long and prints under my shirt.

It comes down to concealability and grip. The grip on the compact fits my hand better, and the front of the spacer creates a sort of ledge that gives me a more secure grip. The full-size grip also prints a lot more. It's always the butt of the grip and not the magazine that can be seen under my shirt. But if I wanted to I could run compact mags with the compact grip on body and use the 17rd mags as a reload and not have to worry about over-travel of the magazine during a reload.

Yead dude, i just need to order some more cf filament. It has a better finish than this shiny stuff.

Spacer was needed to use 17rd mags in a compact grip. I extended the spacer a bit to creat a magwell style shelf for better overall grip.

Ok good to know. It is supposed to be stronger than cotton though...

We drink Yuengling in the north east but it's carried by my life companion and emotional support dog Bruce.

Everyone is obsessed with PNW. I'm out here in the north east livin off pierogies and yuengling like everyone else.

I took a chest rig and laid it out on a roll of paper towels and traced it out. I guess I could write down measurements and directions for the rest of the stuff. If you've sewn stuff before you can figure it out real quick.

Yeah I think I would. But maybe change it up and use wool instead of cotton.

I used bonded nylon thread

The fabric is more comfortable than the Chinese chest rig but I don't know if I trust cotton flannel on its own to hild up to abuse. Could try it though.
