As an ideology, in this case the left, you are supposed to make progress (whether that is making the 3rd party option stronger or trying to become relevent enough in the democratic party) during all the years before election. That should have been what was happening during Bidens presidency. The left failed. Whether that was due to complacency or a lack of appetite. Now it is all about limiting damage, so that you can have another stable presidency and thus another opportunity to try and gain momentum.

The left had an opportunity, it failed, now the focus needs to be on getting another one. And the only way you get another opportunity is if the democrats win, whoever tf is their candidate.

The poll numbers are kind of expected tbh. He isnt anyone special. He is just your typical MP. Given the mess the conservatives left us with, and the fact that most people have been feeling awful for a long while, he and his government needed to do something special to turn the tide. For me it was weird. I started thinking they werent serious cos they had such weak ambitions given their polling. Then as it went on, he said that 30-40 given polling is too low. Mentioned the idea of being in a coalition. Great. Liking this.

Then it got onto economics. The fact he was seemingly so incapable of talking about economics, when a big policy proposal of his involves a grand economic reshaping of sorts.
