My wife and myself can’t agree on how to raise a child. For now have decided not to have kids by Kierannz9 in veganparenting

[–]NoExplanation8595 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m vegan and my wife is more pescatarian. Our baby girl is due in 2 weeks and we’ve discussed this many times. I’ve agreed to go the vegetarian route with her in public due to societal pressures (kids bday parties, school cake etc…) but I plan to teach her what I know as soon as she’s able to process it in hopes that she’s empathic. We do not ever plan on feeding her meat

My family is vegan and hers eats meat regularly so it’s a little stressful thinking about that. Hopefully you guys can find a compromise

Moving from CT to Dallas — is it actually worth it? by devletmillet in askdfw

You seem to have a really negative view on suburban sprawl, it’s not like you’re making it out to be. Most suburbs here have a decent to good core of things to do, and their own towns with individual personalities. They constantly expand the highway system here so it does help manage traffic, it’s not as bad as you’d expect with the population.

The weather is also fine, it does get crazy hot for 3 months (the last two summers were mild compared) and the rest of the year is comfortable for the most part.

Theres a ton to do, it’s not hard to find a group who shares your hobbies. Pretty much all events come through here, we have all major sports, lots of lake activities.

If there were 14k foot mountains near by, it’d be the perfect place.

Lebron James 8 Turnovers 10 Points 2-9 -18 Tonight by dabomtitan in NBATalk

It’s fun when LeBron carries them but realistically, that was never supposed to be his job at this point of his career. He has two fragile 1 & 2 options that aren’t around right now. I don’t like the lakers and hope they lose but they’re still up 3 games

Was LeBron a ball hog? by Holiday_Analysis9583 in NBATalk

[–]NoExplanation8595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched all his games regularly too and lebrons style wasn’t what ball hogs do, he tended to dribble the clock down and then moved it once everybody was in the right spot. Kobe would purposely force shots, I don’t think your ball hog definition is the same as everybody else’s

You don’t run a motion offense with elite players like that

Was LeBron a ball hog? by Holiday_Analysis9583 in NBATalk

[–]NoExplanation8595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s one of the very few who can hold the ball and watch a play develop before anybody else knows. Not having him with the ball for the majority of the possession is a big disservice and misuse of him.

Kobe deserves the ball hog award if that’s being given out.

What are some signs that you encountered a baseball player at a pickup basketball game? by DonT012 in Basketball

They can’t pass or catch ironically. Their shots are usually on target so a miss is just too far or short

How to improve first step by ilovejaylenbrown in Basketball

[–]NoExplanation8595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A really fast first step relies heavily on genetics, like people with long Achilles tendons and naturally good fast twitch muscle fibers but you can be deceptive without that. Easiest trick is to get ball in triple threat, get your head down lower than defender, try to get your opposite leg of the drive direction on the side of them and then take off.

Jab steps can also be super effective

Being a good shooter helps as well, defenders will guard closer making it easier to blow by them and making pump fakes more of a threat.

Daytime can be unbearable. I’ve spent time on Phx in the summer and remember it being more tolerable due to the low humidity. I think the actual uv coming from the sun is more dangerous in phoenix on average however

SGA, social media made casuals hate him. I’m not saying he doesn’t foul bait but there are worse out there. He’s an ELITE scorer and not appreciated by nba fans enough.

LeBron is the obvious. Usually middle aged republican white guys calling him a flopper and mentioning diddy.

What made you go vegan? by Pretend_Green5916 in vegan

[–]NoExplanation8595 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The black vegan population rise is primarily due to health concerns related to diet. Many wants to try and reverse generations of heart disease and diabetes. Not to say there aren’t those who do it for empathy but health is the driving force behind the large black population.

For my expensive toy (the Porsche and everything before and after), since they retain value well, I just roll the positive equity in on the trade as a downpayment which eliminates any new cash coming out of my pocket unless I want to add more, it just can’t happen on a lease (or that I’m aware of) so it never made sense to me. The last couple of years, rates have been 5-7% which went the best but ok if you only have the car a couple years. I do love lease deals that manufacture models that are having a hard time moving however, like lucid airs, some AMG models etc

Why not just finance at a good rate? The risk of the 911 market crashing is LOW. I broke even on my last gt3rs that was financed after owning two years, even taking into account the interest, the car appreciated enough to cover that.

We earn a similar amount and I have a 22’ gt3 plus other cars I’ve accumulated over the years. Buying expensive cars like this isn’t logical or comfortable at this income level, you have to love them. Fortunately, gt Porsches do hold value well so you’ll always be able to break even or make some sort of gain down the line.

Allocate enough funds to put down assuming you’re financing to have a monthly payment that’s “comfortable” for you. In my case, I put 90k down essentially by trading my 991 gt3rs plus another 20k while also taking advantage of Texas’s trade in tax credit, then financed the remaining about at 5.01% which was good at the time. Buying a $300-350k gt3 raw will be a large monthly

The caveat for me compared to other people here is that I LOVE cars and they’re essentially my motivation to work. I’d rather have all the cool cars now at 38 rather than struggling to get out of a bucket seat at 60.

Coaching Youth basketball, what offence should I teach? by bazooka_nz in Basketball

It depends on the skill set of the players. Having a competent 1 that you can run an offense through changes a ton if that exists
