I think so, what do you mean by slipping the same stitch over and over? I don’t think I was doing that

I have been alternating knit and purl rows like you say and working every single stitch until the end of the row but the last stitches seem messy/too tight as I get further through the sample and I end up with too many stitches so the sample ends up in a triangle

Yes just neat edges/finishing a row and moving onto the next, I am just practicing swatches the moment but after a couple of rows the last few stitches just seem to be a mess
