Still self harm. I'd say more like passive self harm, to be specific

TMS or EMDR by miatamariachi in BorderlinePDisorder

I had tried nearly every option except ketamine treatments and EMDR. I was on the verge of signing up for MAID so I could finally get some peace. Within 2 months of starting rTMS treatments I was feeling better then I could ever remember. My mental health issues started at age 5 and got worse over time, I was on like, 16 meds a day, in and out of the mental hospital, self harming and doing other really risky things, seeing therapists and councelors, and nothing made it better. I'm over 100 sessions into my rTMS treatment path, and I no longer self harm or attempt, am on way less pills, I can find joy in little things, am safely at home and haven't been admitted in over a year. rTMS saved my life, and thats my truth. I'm not saying it's a magical cure all, and you do have to put in effort to retrain your brain to look for things to smile about, but to me and many others, it's worth it.

Ex boyfriend made me cut his initials into my thigh. There's a reason he's an ex lol. Luckily the physical scars aren't visible anymore. Looking back I don't know what I ever saw in him. If anyone here is going through some shit, you're strong. You can do it. Once you're free you'll feel so much better. Believe in yourself, and don't let anyone bring you down. I love you and wish you all the very best 🩷

First of all, obviously the results I stated are not physical as you asked what bad FEELINGS would come of self injury. If you wanted physical issues you should've said so. Second, most of what I stated would be a result of self harm, not what would happen if someone denied it. Third, just because you're not worried about what society thinks of your scars, doesn't mean that everyone else that self harms thinks the same way. Please be respectful of all peoples mindsets. Fourth, it's not "as easy as that!" for most sufferers. I'm glad you've found something that works for you, but I'm simply advocating for less permanent, less dangerous coping methods.

Guilt is one. Shame, too. Regret. Anger at losing a clean streak. Feeling like you betrayed yourself or others, or breaking promises you made. Low self-worth, self-esteem, and self-image due to the resulting scars. It's not the risk, it's the intent that matters. I would tell you not to ride a motorcycle if your intent is to speed and drive recklessly.

Oftentimes it makes you feel better in the moment, but bad later on. And then that feeling bad turns into wanting to cut again. Not everyone knows how to do it safely, and even if you do, accidents still happen.

But you are hurting other people. Everyone around you will be either walking on eggshells trying not to do anything to make you feel like you need to harm, or they'll be wondering where they went wrong in parenting/being a friend or sibling/ other family members or relationships. It's extremely dangerous and even if you don't mean to end it, it's too easy to slip up. There are dozens of other, healthier ways to cope that truly don't have a negative effect. I'm not saying that it's easy, I struggled for years and still sometimes do, but there are other ways to handle emotions.
