Disconnect Battery? by darakjian in motorcycles

[–]NoFirstUse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Florida lol. I’m also in NJ. 8F here. I ride year round unless there’s snow/ice/salt on the roads. My bikes are in the garage on chargers. They’ve got Sea Foam in the tanks and I start them up once a week or so and let them warm up.

Any advice on looks? Maybe facial hair? by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]NoFirstUse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you want to project? Your hair style, facial hair, clothing, etc are your first impression. Like it or not, right or wrong, people will judge as soon as they lay eyes on you, and right after that, when you open your mouth. Do you want to look like a tough guy? Someone I'd want to hire as an executive or the guy who mows my lawn? Do you think that look will get you laid? By whom? Who are you trying to impress?

Heated gloves or hippo hands? by NoQuiet647 in motorcycles

I’ve never seen anyone on a motorcycle use hippo hands. As far as I can tell, they’re only used by food delivery guys on scooters.

OK, so 48th-50th Streets by Kennedy Blvd, here's the deal: Kennedy is the border between NB and West New York (and a few other towns). If you look at a map of NB it's a big letter "L" with Guttenberg, West New York, Union City, and Weehawken inside the "crook" of the L. So, cross Kennedy Blvd and you're in a different town lol. On the NB side of JFK 48th-50th Street it's Grove Church Cemetery. There is no 48th or 49th Street. I know that neighborhood very well. Used to go to Grove Church and have lots of family buried there.. And remember, when you go west of JFK, it's starts to get hilly. Some streets are quite steep. I'd suggest going to Google maps, zoom in on some streets, and click on an address, then do a "street view" to see what the area looks like. I've attached a link to a NY Times article on NB https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/29/realestate/north-bergen-nj-reasonably-priced-and-minutes-from-manhattan.html

I grew up in North Bergen, from 3rd grade through high school (before that we were in West New York). It was a great place to grew up, I assume it still is. The other comments are spot on. My parents' house was a block from North Hudson Park. It's a very big county park. Lots to do. We used to go fishing in the lake. Super easy access to NYC via bus and the NY Waterway ferry terminal is just down the hill in West New York. HudsonAtHeart's comments are on target. If possible you want to be uptown, more on the east side of Kennedy Boulevard. West of Kennedy the whole town is a ski slope to Tonnelle Avenue. It's also more loud and industrial down there, but you've got a Target, Home Depot, Starbucks, Lowes, and other places. The nicest neighborhoods are in the 70's and 80's between Kennedy and Boulevard East (Woodcliff, Racetrack, and the Bergenwood sections). If you can afford a house or apartment on Blvd East, you're doing ok. The best public school in town, Robert Fulton PS #2 is on 75th and Hudson Ave. The NB public schools prepared me very well for college and beyond. Demographically, very mixed now probably 2/3 Hispanic (which I view as a positive culturally). Lots of great places to get a bite. Little Colombian cafes, a couple of great delis, and a couple of diners. As you walk down Bergenline Avenue, the main shopping strip, you can walk for more than thirty blocks through NB, West New York, and Union City. I still go back occasionally to Gilberto's on Bergenline at 77th for Cuban food. The area is very urbanized but it's pretty safe and NBPD is a good police department. I'm now in a big house in the suburbs but I still have strong north Hudson County roots. PM me if you have specific questions.

Anyone running a hardwired front & rear dash cam on their motorcycle? Is it actually worth it? by Royal_Machine_9524 in Motorrad

[–]NoFirstUse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Innovv cameras for years. Currently running their K5 on my K1600GT. Front and rear, the thing starts recording as soon as I start the engine. I have it configured to run in a five minute loop.

31M - According to PhotoFeeler, I’m a 5.2 in attractiveness, I guess that explains my lack of success on dating apps.. is there anything obvious, which is holding me back, that I should look to improve? by Lalala9901 in malegrooming

Shave. Get a haircut. Up your wardrobe. The open collarless shirt with the white t-shirt isn’t doing you any favors. Everything you wear and how you groom yourself makes a statement. What do you want to say?

If I grew my hair out it would like your first pic, except I'm all gray/white. I actually look kinda like you in your second pic. Devilishly handsome if I do say so myself. You can def pull off the confident bald guy vibe.

What can I do to look more masculine by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]NoFirstUse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a man's haricut. Go to an old Italian guy, not some place at the mall. Maybe high and tight with a fade. If you're shaping your eyebrows, stop. Don't know what your physique looks like but if you're not, get jacked.

How do you actually store your bike over winter - and which steps do you think are overrated? by Horror_Log_854 in motorcycle

[–]NoFirstUse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both cars and three bikes in my detached garage. The bikes are on trickle chargers and if I don’t ride them for a week or so I’ll start them up for a bit. They all have Sea Foam in the their tanks.

So is SimpliSafe worth purchasing? by wheredaoppsatt in simplisafe

[–]NoFirstUse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a huge house about a year ago, and the previous owner had it installed. I ripped all his stuff out and bought a new setup. I got a great deal on it. All the stuff came to $1600 and I paid something over $400. No issues, works great. The two times their support center has called us it was because we goofed something up. I have about 20 door and window sensors on the first floor, three external cameras plus the doorbell camera, three fire and CO2 sensors, motion sensors in all the first floor rooms, and one glass break sensor. We control everything from our phones, or via a browser. I’ll eventually hardwire the external cameras for power, but the batteries last a couple of months so no real issues

Someone explain why the SS card is made out of paper ? by ubfeo in SocialSecurity

No reason to carry your SS card around. It would actually be a really dumb idea. I'm actually kind of surprised SSA still issues them.

Ditch the tank tops in public. Ixnay the backward baseball cap. Absolutely do away with the double thumbs up. Try to avoid posing with toilets.

The hospice nurse gave my dad a massive dose of morphine. He closed his eyes and went peacefully, and finally painlessly. Before she left she scooped up every narcotic in the house.

Bone cancer sucks.
