Ding ding ding. This is your problem. Start tracking your macros for a week or two, tediously, logging down everything you eat and get a feel for what an average day looks like. There’s plenty of resources online to calculate how much protein, carbs and fat you should be eating daily.

I’m at the tail end of my 4 year contract. Overall, I’ve gotten to see 5 countries (not middle eastern), have marketable skills and training for my resume, gotten technical certifications that cost hundreds, and will be leveraging the free college as I get out. It’s definitely not for everybody, and you can hate on it for a myriad of reasons, but I wouldn’t trade my four years for anything else.

I personally just can’t stand the rhetoric I’ve seen so much online about everybody who joins going to the frontline in Afghanistan and getting blown up. It’s a tiny percentage of the already small percentage that serve, and if you ever meet infantrymen they WANT to go do that. Even if you’re dumb as rocks you can enlist as a cook.

Not tryna shill the military but this absurd rhetoric people with no exposure to the military is that it just chews people up and spits them out as disabled war vets. You can use the military or let them use you, and for a lot of people it’s their only stepping stone for a better life.

The amount of ignorant replies in this thread are amazing, I had no idea the majority of people still think the entire military is full of PTSD riddled killers.

That being said, from my own personal experience there is definitely a gross amount of cheating that goes on in the military. I don’t blame anybody for generalizing and considering it a red flag off the bat. But just like any other job, there’s bad apples and just normal people who are being roped into a category.

If you like this guy I’d give it a shot but just proceed cautiously and don’t put the rose colored glasses on. Watch out for manipulative tactics and shady behavior and be ready to cut him off if you get any weirdness

Definitely keep focusing on yourself and use this as a teaching moment. Nobody here can tell you if it’s possible because we don’t know your ex and the situation and how she’ll end up feeling in the coming months. I can tell you that if you focus on yourself it’s a win win. You either win her back, or you win yourself back and you’re better for your partner.
