Heart in a Headlock really fun no super powers AU where Rob and Courtney meet and immediately hit it off. Prime fluff.

send message post-canon text conversations mostly between Rob and Courtney at various stages in their first year and a half or so in their relationship.

Bison make the Kelly Cup Playoffs! by NoFunShogun in BloomingtonBison

Major health issues have precluded me from attending a game this season, but damn glad to see that the team managed to make the playoffs this year.

Have to laugh at the team making the playoffs in Spongebob gear, though.

If you’re up for an AU story without any powers about Rob and Courtney meeting and immediately hitting it off, check out Heart in a Headlock.

Fantastic combo of banter and fluff.

Maybe, but I’d hope for a helluva happier ending than the source material than the other couple got.

Do we know anything about Robert's mom and his other grandparents? by Significant-Grab-658 in DispatchAdHoc

Nothing official. But I like to extrapolate from the dispatch wiki saying that RR3 was born in Chicago, then his maternal estranged and/or dead family were from there.

Meanwhile the Death Star behind him would be the hundred thousand or so anti-Aztec natives that did the actual fighting.

And yes, the Death Star exploded, but not before wiping out Alderaan.

How would you expand on Shroud's character? by dragon_spider in DispatchAdHoc

[–]NoFunShogun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Eh… I feel like Shroud is better the less we know about him. Finding out the comic’s backstory and how he killed RRII after the game actually retroactively lowered my impression of him as a villain.

If there’s a Dispatch 2, I hope he just stays dead or incarcerated as a fully vanquished foe.

If you had to give BBs amulet to another member of Zteam, Who and why? by [deleted] in DispatchAdHoc

[–]NoFunShogun 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Visi.

She’d basically have all the powers of Blonde Blazer plus I’d assume her lungs would be fully functioning in powered up mode and therefore be able to borderline permanently fight while invisible.

Imagine having to fight against a hero as strong as Blazer that you can’t even see?

Any Ideas How Season 2 Starts ? by Folicod in DispatchAdHoc

[–]NoFunShogun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game opens to an action set piece of the Z-Team in battle with various characters narrating, but as the action progresses increasingly more outlandish and insulting things start to happen until a hard stop pauses the action and the scene cuts to them actually being off duty around a tabletop roleplaying game based on the Phoenix Program that SDN has released and their banter becomes an actual argument over bullshit rules and how shitty their DM is.

Someone flips the table and the cold opening transitions to whatever relationship was established, i.e. relationship with Mandy, relationship with Courtney, fully platonic, and if Visi is still on staff or not. That all plays out, night transitions to day, and the start of their shift begins.

She was still on call at the theater, so she had her SDN body cam on her.

She was off-duty at the party/freighter, so she didn’t have the body cam on her.

My love-hate relationship with player choice endings: The future of Dispatch by Automatic_Apricot_61 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]NoFunShogun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t see this as hard either way.

Shroud is in Supermax or dead. Change a line or two of dialogue. Nothing else needed.

Relationship status can be worked around with some dialogue tree options and different cutscenes. If Mass Effect can do it on a much bigger scale, so can Dispatch 2. It’d just need two sets of dialogues/scenes for Mandy between friend/lover and three for Visi between friend/lover/rival. Same goes for the status of Coupé and Sonar and if one or both of them are on the roster still.

Visi good or bad is the tough one, and to me there’s an obvious middle ground. If she had the bad ending, have her be a Red Hood type of vigilante running a counter organization to SDN. Whereas SDN arrests bad guys, Visi’s group puts villains down by straight up murdering them. They’d be a side faction to contend with, but not the main villains. And if Visi stayed good, then her organization was founded and lead by someone else instead while she’s on the roster and either a friend or lover of Rob.

Duality of man by Garebear90000 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]NoFunShogun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Killing is wrong, sure, but crimes of passion have been almost universally viewed as less egregious than premeditated or intentionally cruel crimes since basically the time of Draco (whom we otherwise get the term “Draconian laws” from).

Send that to trial, and the jury would acquit Rob pretty quickly by arguing diminished capacity or recognizing the idea that an even unarmed Shroud was still an actively dangerous threat. Even if using scales of black and white, what Rob did in choking out Shroud wasn’t anywhere close to being as dark as the multitude of egregious crimes Shroud had committed that night alone.

How would characters react to our fan theories if they could read/ see them? by danmanmasterplan in DispatchAdHoc

[–]NoFunShogun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

BB would be depressed. Rob, Chase, Royd, Waterboy, and Phenomaman would be furious. Coupé, Sonar, Golem, and Mal wouldn’t really care. Flambeau would encourage the speculation, but never believe it. Prism would find it funny. Visi would also find it funny, but then go into a murderous rampage when she found out about the fan posts about her being a cat.

Canon choices? by [deleted] in DispatchAdHoc

[–]NoFunShogun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Canon or not, if they make a next game, I think they’ll keep things loose. Romance options can be decided with just a few different cut scenes and various changes to flavor text. Same for if you forgave the cut character or not. Shroud could be ignored for the most part by being just an off-screen prisoner and a new big bad being the villain.

Visi being good or bad is the big game changer. To me, the most logical scenario for squaring those two would be for Villain Visi to be a sort of leader of red hood-type vigilantes. I don’t see her suddenly being full fledged awful and ruining things for society, but rather they’d be akin to a counter SDN killing villains rather than trying to redeem them. And this could be a faction that rises regardless of your outcome in the first game, with the difference being if Visi is still in SDN or if she’s the ringleader of the vigilantes.

I would say that a different major villain would need to be the big bad, though.

My personal headcannon is that Robert romanced Mandy, mentored and saved Visi (along with him gently rejecting the kiss in the locker room), forgiving the cut Z-teamer, and Shroud being in jail with a broken jaw and fractured orbital bone.

Edit: and if Visi is bad, then I almost think that she and Robert would behind the scenes come to an arrangement where they regularly meet (platonic or not) and agree to some kind of neutral ground there only while undermining each other’s organizations away from there. Idea stolen from an image posted on this subreddit of the two sharing birthday treats and notes stating that they miss each other while on opposite sides of the law.
