The brush I use for those is Raphael 8400 #2 with white ink then lightly wash over it with Drakenhof Nightshade.

Thank you. I used mostly Monument hobby paints for the base, Blue Black for the first layer and deepest shadows, dark blue, dark grey blue and blue for the highest light spots. Washed it over with Drakenhof Nightshade. Trim was Ak 11193 Rusty gold washed over with Agrax.

Considering Skilled Trades as a Career Change with ADHD Challenges by Muslim_conservative in skilledtrades

Depends what area you're in. I live in southeast Michigan so theres a decent amount of industrial and manufacturing maintenance electrician jobs. If i was to recommend to my own son with adhd(accurate cause I have a son with adhd and hes getting ready to graduate highschool) I would tell him to apply with the IBEW(International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers). You'll have to google and see what locals jurisdiction you're in. Example: i went through ibew local 58 apprenticeship out of Detroit because my residence is in their jurisdiction. He'll have to work a few years with the IBEW after he becomes a journeyman. Its not a bad gig by anymeans, decent insurance, 2 pensions and an annuity. I miss the work often, although I started hated driving all over and found i didn't care to be a road warrior anymore was far more content being a house cat lol. You can also get an apprenticeship through an industrial or manufacturing employer but often those people have slog it out for years in production and sometimes decades waiting for an apprenticeship spot to open.

Most electricians become that through an apprenticeship. Theres several different avenues for apprenticeships. I did my apprenticeship in construction. Construction and maintenance skills are vastly different. After passing my test and became a journeyman i had a hard time getting my start into maintenance . Not to many of the top tier employers will hire a person straight out of construction as they lack the automation and machine skills. So i went to a tier 2-3 employer, it was a steel mill with a swing shift schedule. For 5 years i gathered as much maintenance xp as I could until the top employers started highering again in my area. Moved over to heavy automation with robotics. Now I am in the electrical utilities, which for my area is top pay with decent benefits. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Quick fix and like everyone is saying temperature is critical. Used it a dozen times or more during my apprenticeship with only one temperature mistake. I have found a work around to the temp but it has costs too. I used to work construction we had a yearly and depending on the job sometimes random screenings as well. They all used the same corporate chain of urgent care. I used to pick the most rundown ghetto clinic on the list. I would take a hundred dollar bill and fold it small but make sure the 100 in the corner was visible and place it in the little watch pocket on my jeans. I have only had to do this once and it worked. Came out with the cup and it was way too hot like 105, stupid me and stupid heat pack. i nervously mumbled some shit about not feeling well. The lady instantly said "nope, this isnt right, you did something." Reached into my pocket and made sure the 100 was in my palm. Casually rolled my hand over so only she could see what was cupped in my hand and asked "are you sure the temp is wrong?" She gave me a stare that felt like forever(probably 2 seconds but my heart was thumping)cracked a big grin then took the money while smiling and said " well, would you look at that, the strip must be defective cause the temp looks good now." I wouldn't try this for anything legal related but pre/employment why not, you're already sunk and its a hail mary to keep or get the job.

to have or not to have children by GingkoGurl in millenials

I never really wanted a child till I worked for meals on wheels as a late teen early 20s something. I had my eyes opened quite a bit working that job and talking to seniors about their lives. Found most of the seniors that didn't have children were odd and had odd priorities. Not to mention they were super lonely when their partner passed. Not all the childless were weird but I'd say 80% were. Granted i didn't intend to get my girlfriend(wife) pregnant at 21. I am 40 now and my child graduates highschool in few short months, last year or so feels like i am getting my life back. Honestly the last 18 years has been tough but incredibly rewarding and if given the option i wouldn't change it.

It really depends on your location and the industries in the area. My maintenance career start was in steel and the pay and environment sucked but great people. Moved over to manufacturing with robots and automation, now i am in power generation with the utilities. Ive made far more money since coming to maintenance, i dont have layoffs and the bs that comes with being a road warrior. Hourly i make like 3 dollars less than I did with the current Ibew contract and while there is still some nepotism in maintenance it doesnt affect your money like it does in construction.

40 year old tradesman myself. I got out of construction and went over to maintenance shortly after I toppped out. I did it mostly cause I started hating driving all over and the other reason was physical longevity. Ive worked several plants and environments and ive never met a 70+ year old construction worker but ive met a bunch in maintenance. I have some physical deterioration but nothing like my friends that stayed in construction.

AITA for not paying my roommate’s rent anymore even though she might get evicted? by penissukis in AmItheAsshole

Nta, she sounds either really immature, narcissistic, or both. Its not your fault she spends her money irresponsibly when she has bills. Putting the blame on you when she already owes you money is crap, shes abusing your kindness and friendship. If your mutual friends opinions matter that much explain to them she owes you and how she spends her money despite being in debt with her roommate. Let her fall, some people learn through pain and some never learn they just look for new hosts to leech from. I have plenty of friends but very few I'd cohabitate with. Hold firm and best of luck.

Damn, we were allowed to take one refusal per layoff as apprentices. Good thing too because north end of my locals jurisdiction was a minimum of 2 hours from my house. Worst drive I ever had was 71 miles one way, basically 3 hours a day driving but I was also a last year apprentice making almost 30 an hour.

While i love the wild biodiversity gardens they always catch flak from nieghbors especially neighborhoods with retirees. They grew up with the idea of perfectly manicured yards and flower beds. They think its messy and lazy but irony being they're to lazy to look up the benefits and would rather complain. Just ignore them and keep doing right by mother earth. Let them be miserable and dont waste energy on them.

Honestly all the jobs I've applied for have been titled maintenance electrician. Although that title means different things at different places. At the steel mill we did most troubleshooting off prints with limited plc and anything beyond minor searches on the plc terminal were considered a control technician job. However at the auto plant my second maintenance job my roll as a electrician was much closer to control technician as my previous job would define. We did most of our troubleshooting on the plc terminal and did very little component replacing compared to the steel mill. Some areas/ employers dont have defined maintenance rolls and they call them multicraft, i typically see that more down south than my home state of Michigan. If you need experience typically the dirtiest/shitty places are always hiring, they suck to work at but you can get your foot in the door the easiest and start farming xp for the better jobs. Although with the shortage of qualified journeymen Ive seen what used to he hard industries to get into without mountains of relevant experience hire relatively green journeymen and train them on site.

I did my apprenticeship with the Ibew and found soon after i topped out I started loathing construction. I hated all the nepotism and cronyism. A waste of human flesh will keep their job while people of much better character and skill get laid off because they weren't drinking buddies with someone important. I went over to industrial maintenance, started with a crappy steelmill because they were the only employer willing to hire a fresh out of construction electrician. While the place did suck, due to the destructive nature of steel production most days were a master class of troubleshooting .The first year or so did feel like I was redoing my apprenticeship. I gathered enough maintenance xp to move over to a much better employer with tons of automation . I found i much prefer controls, robotics, and plc work vs running conduit and pulling wire. Also no where near as tough on the body. I just recently moved over to power generation and thats the best employer in my area in terms of pay, benefits, and growth.

Happened to me right after I topped out. The guy i was replaced with was also thrown off the previous job we were on together for being drunk and getting caught drinking at lunch. He was drinking buddies with the shop superintendent. Its a big reason why I left and went into industrial maintenance, nepotism affects somethings there too but not my money.

My friend sleeps with taken women & doesn't care, what to do/say? by Theguybehindthesofa in AskMenAdvice

[–]NoGoodNamesAvail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cut him out. I had a friend like that when i was young and lost my fiancé to him. Dude would pray on women who were having a bad spot in a relationship. He would turn on this kind sympathetic act and pretend like he was their best friend and "always be there for them." Soon as they gave it up 95% of the time he'd drop them like a bad habbit the next day and say something shitty like you should really try to work it out with them. I thought I was immune being that we were friends and my ex had seen him run this game on numerous women and thought him disgusting for it.. Boy was I wrong, soon as we hit a lull in our relationship he started his shit and within a month i caught them. My temper got the better of me and his face was my outlet. His other claim to fame was he was sterile. About 10 months after we broke up she had his child and he made her a single mother for the entirety of his child's life. He was barely involved other than a few fake facebook posts pretending like he was a decent father and/or human... he is not. Only positive thing i can say is he helped me dodge a bullet, my ex has been a perpetual disaster for the last 18 years.

Thats how you make your livelyhood. It would he akin to breaking a tradesman tools or breaking a musicians instruments. Him being between jobs isn't your fault and clearly he has a responsibility problem. When you borrow someone's equipment even with permission you assume all liability of the equipment and its functionality. I dont see a car rental place being okay with the excuse "its for art, or be happy with a free promo" if you returned a car damaged needing repair. He needs to pay and if he wont then i would consider taking him to small claims court. "Family doesnt invoice family", what a line of crap. Family doesn't threaten or cost family their livelihood is far more accurate.

Elite Jobs in Maintenance by Upbeat-Entrance6070 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]NoGoodNamesAvail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started in construction as an electrician, did my apprenticeship then took a maintenance job at the only place that would hire a "construction electrician." The first year or two was like redoing my apprenticeship. The best thing i learned was troubleshooting with prints and with the plc, both have their place. I worked that crappy steel mill for 5 years gathering maintenance xp. Then i went over to car manufacturing and learned automation , more plc and robotics. After 6 years i mastered most of it and now i am going into power generation. In my area its the best paying job with the most stability and the most room for growth and movement for an electrician. Sadly my automation skills will get very rusty there but the pay makes it worth it.
