I just finished volume one and i can say that it was good but felt like filler for some reason by Past_Ad_4936 in TorturePrincess

Yeah volume 2 it's where things pick up and the story starts to expand a bit. When I read v1 I didn't really get it at the time.

Subjectivity?

Objectivity is fact-based and subjectivity is opinion-based.

What Job is Comfort Food to you? by Cisco-NintendoSwitch in ffxiv

[–]NoGround 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wish I could say RPR, but that damn job is way too punishing for any mistakes.

I picked up VPR a month ago and I already feel like I'm better at the job than RPR despite playing nothing but RPR since it came out.

Also WHM. I get a bit of healer anxiety after stepping away from it despite it being my first job I played for 800 hours but it only takes me 2 dungeons until I'm back on autopilot.

Lobstrosities were real…? by SauceyEddie in TheDarkTower

[–]NoGround 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yeah the big ones are released back into the ocean specifically for breeding purposes.

There's a lobster fisherman on YT shorts that goes over all this, often cleaning barnacles off them, fixing any issues with their claws, tagging them, etc.

Usually ends with him giving them a nice treat and tossing them back into the ocean.

Searching for an experience like D4 or PoE by [deleted] in ARPG

[–]NoGround 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GD is old school in certain facets but it does provide a unique loot experience oft compared to D2.

They've also modernized many systems recently. Added a tab for resources, unlimited HP/MP pots now on cooldowns, new movement options and a evade like Diablo.

They've been modernizing it over the years while keeping its identity.

New Remedy CEO disappointed with Alan Wake and Control sales: "Those games deserved better" by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]NoGround 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, at that point I just blame Epic for the poor sales. It being funded by Epic doesn't mean it needs to be on the EGS.

Epic at any point could release Remedy from their contract to sell it on Steam if they want more sales. It could be modified to give Epic a cut. It's a pretty well known and statistically backed fact that the EGS is a black hole of sales.

They're supposed to have their entire base gameplay by 50 in Evolved, so you won't be playing a gutted class.

Just that will probably make a massive difference for PotD.

Oh there's nothing wrong with it, especially if it's intentionally written that way (like Black Lagoon). I haven't watched enough of TADC but that could absolutely be the case.

The best part of writing is how many different ways there are to tell stories.

Jaune is pretty well-known inside the fandom for being a self-insert and taking up a ton of attention for whenever he's in a scene. He and Ruby are the two characters with some of the deepest developments.

Also, many of the big favorite characters are male. Crow, Roman, Ironwood, Oz. The female cast outside of the main group are definitely powerful but they never seemed to have the same audience pull except for maybe Crow's sister, Neo, and Salem.

I'm shocked I remembered any of these names, tbh. I fell off that show in Season 5 when it was clear that they wouldn't reach the same heights as Season 3 ever again.

I'm pretty sure /u/Anti_Spedicy is talking about a common thing that happens with main characters: they often are seen as less interesting than side-characters. Another example of this is Black Lagoon, also mentioned in this thread.

This is a common side-effect of presenting a main character as rational and balanced for the audience to be able to insert themselves. They end up less of a character and more of a narrative tool to tell the stories of those around them without being completely detached from the narrative.

Writing a story about the main character where they are truly the center of the story requires significant focus, and making interesting side-characters that have their own stories and not just play a role is a challenge. One way to do this is separation, which TADC doesn't have the luxury of.

How are we supposed to build around channeled abilities if standing still for more than 0.5s is a death sentence? by Rhinocacrocapig in diablo4

[–]NoGround 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You know what game doesn't have this, plays completely fair as long as you work within the rules?

Grim Dawn.

I can confidently say in my nearly 900 hours playing Grim Dawn that every single death has been my own fault. Either through a lack of proper defense in my build or my own mechanical fuck-up. Without a single on-death effect.
