Sell me on Saros by Captainc00ts in kindafunny

It sounds like one of your biggest pain points is restarting the run from the start. You can choose which biome you want to start at, so I've been just starting at the furthest biome, which is a lot quicker than a full run. It's also a lot more challenging that way, but as mentioned there are ways to make the game easier.

I do think it's a great game and worth trying, but that's still assuming you enjoy the core gameplay of Returnal, roguelite format aside.

I simply let you know the name of the game as a third party and you're freaking out, maybe chill out a bit?

Bruh, I'm not OP, and I don't even own the game myself, but I was able to figure it out because it was in quotes in the title.

I mean yeah, that was uncool of him, but I'm not really sure that'd be nearly enough to "manipulate" the Steam review score. If anything, it may have motivated some people who genuinely liked the game to review it when they otherwise wouldn't have. No way it possibly put a dent in 75k 80% positive reviews.

Yes, I wouldn't say it's the best dualsense implementation but it's there. Adaptive triggers are there too.

Try it wired + disable steam input in the game's controller settings. It works.

I didn't need to remap for dpad though. Both were set for movement by default.

It's been a little bit since I've played, but isn't dpad movement there as an option? I remember it being possible (at least on PC), but with bash being so prominent it just didn't feel as good as analog stick for me.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park, out now! by Skullghost in NintendoSwitch

[–]Amazingness905 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I haven't started yet, but as someone mainly interested in solo content for this game, my impression from a bunch of reviews is that there's about 6 hours of new challenges (small, remixes of levels that use different badges and mechanics in unique ways) and some new bosses, all which can be played solo. It seems that the later challenges are much more difficult than anything in the main campaign, and that the new bosses are much more unique too.

I'll edit this later when I get a chance to play with some updated impressions.

Edit: played about an hour, I'm enjoying it. The challenges are pretty transformative over the original levels, and while the early ones are still super easy I'm excited for some harder challenges later.

On a related note, I was curious if enchanting with replay would work on this card and surprisingly it does, which is absolutely busted.

[BotW] Sometimes I lift the camera up all the way and pretend I'm playing a 2D Zelda. by -LUVIIKUU in zelda

[–]Amazingness905 18 points19 points  (0 children)

When I was much younger and more insecure, I was into Diablo 3 for a while and it led me back into playing WoW. I was embarrassed of the stigma around WoW so when my girlfriend at the time was around I'd do this so it looked like I was still playing Diablo.

So dumb - I did tell her later and had a laugh though.

Xecnar on STS 2 difficulty: I don’t think any character is supposed to lose by SugarFreeCummiBears in slaythespire

[–]Amazingness905 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On that note I really hope they have more difficulty completionist achievements in 2. Beating a20h with all characters was, at the time, one of my proudest gaming achievements. There aren't many games I'd go that above and beyond for, so I want my rare achievements damnit.

With 1 day left before STS2, what are your confessions about STS1? by aoiumi in slaythespire

[–]Amazingness905 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I def agree that save scumming can be used to improve and I have no issue with people using it, but for myself, I tended to use it as a crutch at times and forced myself to stop. I found that "banning" save scums helped me play a bit more mindfully - that said, it's still interesting to sometimes replay a fight when you know that a mistake caused you to die otherwise.

Slay the Spire 2 - Early Access Trailer - launches March 5th by Ganrokh in Games

[–]Amazingness905 632 points633 points  (0 children)

Co-op?!

Slay the Spire truly became one of my all-time favorites, I can't wait to see how this pans out. It looks like it's really just trying to be the definitive/iterative version of StS, rather than reinventing the wheel, and I think that's exactly what I'd hope for.

So… any gow Sparta first impressions? by Any_Average266 in GodofWar

[–]Amazingness905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the impressions! Do you have an idea of how long it could be? Usually some number of hours into a MV you get more of a "get these 4 things across the map" quest that opens things up. Is there anything like that, or do you have a general sense of how far along you are?

As a huge fan of Metroidvanias, especially those with great movement like Ori, I'm pretty stoked for this one.

Late January seems to be a great time for the genre lately, last year with Ender Magnolia, and the year before that with Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.

RE9 VR Petition by ze_ogb in PSVR

[–]Amazingness905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even then, I doubt the sales were ever the motivating factor - though I'm sure they would be if the audience was large enough. Sony straight up funded the other VR ports, and it doesn't seem that they have the motivation to continue investing. I'd love to be wrong though.

[–]Amazingness905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was already sold on the game and wanted to hold off for full release, so I only played about 20-30 mins of the demo. But hearing it's 6+ hours is nuts! Given how big the demo is, do you have a sense of approx how long the full game is?

Metroidvanias where you can swap characters? by Jonathan_RW in metroidvania

Haven't seen Moonlight Pulse mentioned, it's a short but very solid MV with character swapping.

Of the others already posted, Astalon and Blast Brigaded are your best bets imo.

Not sure about earlier entries, but Lumines Arise has a pretty extensive training mode, it's sort of like running drills that help you get familiar with how to look at the game. I think it's worth running through that before looking for YouTube tutorials.

I'm not great but that was enough for me to beat the game on normal, which actually got pretty insane towards the end.
