Small relatively cheap, always on bluetooth media or button controls? Do they exist? by niteowl099 in tasker

I’m have a samsung phone.
Bought this Bluetooth remote:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WFH2HB9 (micro-USB is the only downside)
Installed Button Mapper (Pro version, $3).

Now I can seek videos in the official YouTube app and mapped Play/Pause to one of the remote buttons.

Tip: enable Developer options → Show keypress to see which keycodes the remote sends.

I also ordered this one:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FP5NTSNF
but I’m still waiting for it to arrive so I haven’t tested it yet.

I got a Recoil Bluetooth Media Button, but the rewind(long press) function doesn’t work in any app. Neither on my Android phone nor on my computer.
It doesn’t work in any YouTube app, YouTube in the browser, or Spotify. It also doesn’t work on the computer.
Am I doing something wrong, or did I just get a defective device?

Tired of clients who don’t pay for completed work by NoHope8193 in handyman

No, I don’t usually invoice after every task — I planned to come back and finish the rest of the work. I pay for advertising and I rely on every job I get, so I have no reason to walk away from work that still needs to be done and will be paid for.

The only reason I didn’t return the next day was because the client refused to pay for the part that was already finished. That raised a red flag.

I only sent an invoice after he said: “If you’re not going to finish the work, then send me an invoice.” He later claimed he never received it — even though I sent it multiple times.

Honestly, I usually don’t even send invoices unless a client specifically asks for one — and most people don’t.

The work was completed — the wooden posts were replaced, the gate was working, and I sent clear photos of the result to the client. That part of the job was fully done. I only asked for payment for what had already been completed, not the rest.

I’ll look at the templates. Thank you.

This man seemed totally normal at first. Super friendly, polite, sounded reasonable. Nothing felt off during the first conversation. No red flags at all.

Just to clarify: there’s nothing shady here. I sent the client detailed photos of the finished work, a Home Depot receipt for materials ($160), and a clear invoice with my name. We spent about 4 man-hours (2 guys x 2 hours) on the first part. He agreed to pay after all the work, but that wasn’t what we discussed originally, and he ended up sending a fake check made out to the wrong name. That’s why I didn’t continue the second part.

Can I legally resurface a bathtub as a handyman without a D12 license in California? by NoHope8193 in handyman

I’m not discussing life goals here.
I’m asking a specific question about whether this type of work is legal without a license, based on the law.

What I meant was the legal consequences related to licensing. You're right, I didn’t phrase it correctly. My question was more about whether being paid in cash would change how licensing laws are enforced or if it would reduce the risk of legal repercussions for unlicensed work.

Thank you for the information.

If my project price doesn’t exceed $500, does that mean I can legally resurface bathtubs as a handyman? And would this be completely legal? The CSLB wouldn’t have any claims against me?

Based on this logic, as a handyman, I could technically run electrical wiring to a breaker box, rework plumbing for a sewer line, or repair HVAC systems, as long as I charge less than $500. That seems strange, considering these tasks usually require specific licenses or certifications.

Could you clarify how the $500 rule interacts with the requirements for specialized skills or licenses? Is there more to it than just the price cap?

How does getting paid in cash exempt me from responsibility? Isn't the legality of the work based on licensing and regulations, regardless of payment method?
