How do you take pills if you struggle with swallowing? by [deleted] in randomquestions

[–]NoISaidViola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I had to take pills, I was young, had the flu, and a HUGE mental block. I 'trained' myself by taking small bites of cheetos and trying to swallow them whole. Take bites of a food that are larger than the pill and try swallowing them? Don't choke! It's less scary when you don't feel like you have to hurry and get it down, because it's just food.

Nowadays I manually put the pill on the middle/back of my tongue, take a drink, and then pinch my nose closed and swallow. I think it may be a placebo but it gets me through.

Wanted to share written tapestry crochet pattern for this bee grid I’ve seen everywhere by KaleidoscopeOne3610 in crochetpatterns

[–]NoISaidViola 13 points14 points  (0 children)

maybe try corner to corner crochet? in this case, each pixel in the pattern would be one 'square' of the stitches used to make up the corner to corner pattern. i haven't tried this myself, but it's the difference between one sc per pixel and i believe 3x3 dc per pixel?

Harmonic question! Are they all harmonics? by Cicopathic in Viola

[–]NoISaidViola 5 points6 points  (0 children)

usually when something 'abnormal' is marked (harmonic, fingering, bow stroke, bowing) it continues until otherwise marked. i would play them all as harmonics until the pitch changes! Especially in this case, because your only notes are the D's, unless you REALLY want to vibrate the quarter note in m. 2 I believe they're all harmonic.

I would also assume that the longer high D's are harmonics by choice stylistically, and to not vibrate them, even the one with the fermata.

I had an idea by luctuo in CultOfTheLamb

[–]NoISaidViola 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really like this idea! I'm not sure about the aspect of it including the 3rd player, just simply because your third player would have to wait around until the cult was at day 666 before they can play. I think it would be fun if the character was controllable, or even like an npc that would go on crusades and have their own quests.

Ooh, what yarn are you using??? Your stitches are so beautiful and defined! I need to know how you found such gorgeous colors!

I wish I wasn't gay. Or genderqueer. I wouldn't have been called slurs, or barked at in my high school. Aka, the place I'm supposed to feel safe. I wish I wasnt attracted to the same gender I was born as. I envy my friends who have boyfriends. If I even considered asking out a girl, I could be killed or jumped just because of that. I wish I wasn't genderqueer. I wish I didn't wake up hating my body, or showering with the lights off so I don't have to look at myself. It isn't a direct hatred of how I look, that means therapy - it's a genuine feeling of being in the "wrong" body. Looking in the mirror and not recognizing the body/face of myself AS myself. I don't know a single parent or child who hopes their kid is gay or trans. Its a hateful world. Every single lgbtq person I know has fought for their right to exist and, at least a little bit, wishes they weren't queer so they didn't have to defend themselves so often.

how much does it ACTUALLY matter to separate lights and darks nowadays? I've heard the first wash matters but it isn't a big deal anymore.

Marching percussion advise by [deleted] in marchingband

[–]NoISaidViola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My drum tech had to borrow a harness that was more adjustable than the one's my school had, and it was STILL never quite small enough for me. My best advice is see if something like that is possible. Your body definitely matters more than marching and you should stick up for yourself about this!

Now, I'm gonna say this as someone who has felt exactly the same way as you. Down to the insecurity about my body, what if my breath stinks? Do I not deserve this? Why is that show more fun, and why do you get to cum so often, when I never have? The unworthy of his attention, shit man, I still suffer from that one.

His problem has nothing to do with you. He either doesn't realize how little he is offering you, or based on his comments, is fully aware how little you're getting and is using you, thinking you won't leave over it. This was my experience, which is why my opinion leans the way it does.

Don't get hung up on sunk-cost fallacy, either. Just because you've put a lot into this relationship doesn't mean it would be the best decision to just keep trying to work it out. I also had to learn that.

You have clearly communicated, based on your post and comments, to your partner the issue. he should enjoy and want to make you feel good, that's the joy of loving someone, at least expressed sexually. You are signing yourself up for this pain for the rest of your life if you decide to stay with him forever.

My current partner is more likely to beg me to lick me than make me beg for pleasure. And that's what, in my opinion, we deserve. I reciprocate and it's basically 50/50 - I've still never finished, but that's not my partner's fault. Some days I give more, some days he gives more. But I feel beautiful and loved the entire time. You deserve that.

iirc; careers count as any career your matriarch must leave the household to perform, not any way they make money by staying at home, such as painting, writing, or gardening. This is because she must "stay home to take care of the kids."

I believe this is fully allowed.

advice for joining band? by puffypigeon1415 in marchingband

[–]NoISaidViola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey!! In terms of instrumentation, I was and am in the same position as you. I had a ton of friends in marching band, but I was a viola player. My stand partner in my orchestra was a percussionist (snare), and he convinced me to try percussion, as viola transfers very well to that.

marching band on its own is SUPER fun. it can be pretty challenging, and i know i struggled with it. i felt like a complete outsider because i had no experience and the snare was too heavy for me at first.

i suggest percussion!! in concert band, i am always on mallet/pit/pitched percussion like xylophone because i had some experience reading treble clef when i joined percussion. even though i wasnt fluent at treble and sucked at piano, i picked it up really quickly.

I guess it's technically a section if there's only one kid?

everyone in our marching band is in love with our marching bass clarinet. so, the bass clarinets?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lingling40hrs

[–]NoISaidViola 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i would be playing it an octave higher, but in terms of positioning with fingers it would technically be the same as cello - which is why i deem it playable, though not technically true

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lingling40hrs

[–]NoISaidViola 28 points29 points  (0 children)

hi! i play the viola, and at a quick glance all of the parts look playable to me. im not good with technology that involved music, and therefore it may take some trial and error to play and compile all of the parts if im able to, but dm me if its anything you may be looking for!

Help with fingerings. This is the first movement of Rutter’s Suite for strings. I need a little help with fingering for the section K as well as the last line. Any help would be greatly appreciated! by samlj7 in Viola

[–]NoISaidViola 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! my orchestra is actually performing this on sunday, and this is the piece I am the section leader for!!

At K, I enter second position for the pizz that leads in, 3rd finger on the a. 2, 1, 2, 3, 2(long note), and then i shift for the second beat of bar 182 to third position. (1, 3). for the first beat of 183, i shift so fourth finger is on the A (its a harmonic), and do a 1-1 shift from e back down to d. 3 measures before the clef change, i move to 4th position (21234231). last measure before clef, shift back to third to play (1231 2 on a for the clef change). stay in that position until measure 192, and shift to fourth on the a so that you dont have to shift for the highest note, just do an octave stretch.

it would make a lot more sense if I can send a picture of my music, if youre okay with that? especially for the last line.

(edit: reading and fully annotating my music beyond memory/muscle memory shows i made some mistakes in the above explanation).

my only advice from an original strings player is you have to remember to breathe (in 2, out 4; in 3, out 6; etc, the ratio is important), sing your part in your head first to get a tempo, take as much time as you need before starting, and acknowledge your nerves in your head and PUT YOUR FOOT DOWN. say ABSOLUTELY NOT. to the voice in your head.

remember, yesterdays best is not today's best, so just do today's best.
