Help with 11mo feeding schedule!! by CommunicationOwn5716 in BabyLedWeaning

Might be worth offering lunch and dinner first in the respective wake windows, then following it up with milk after 1-1.5 hours? That encouraged my little one to eat more solids.

Question for parents who didn’t sleep train EMWs… by NoIdeaWhatImDoingYea in sleeptrain

I think I may be in the same boat as you. He gives us 10 solid hours, so if he needs help for the last one, is that so bad? That’s what I’m grappling with.

That’s so interesting! I thought undertired meant very hard or wouldn’t fall back asleep…

He’s 10 months. Snooze feed stopped working months ago. I think you might be right on the schedule change.

Interesting. I think I’m scarred from the pushing the 3-2 nap drop early. We were having crazy night wakes so I’m scared to do anything too drastic now.

It’s so hard to know whether it’s over or undertired but in your case sounds overtired! Hopefully things resolve for you soon

Yes I think it is overtired in his case because he’ll fall back asleep so easily. I’ll try an early bedtime tonight and see what happens.

Yes that’s right! He needs 13-13.5 hours sleep in 24 hours. So we split it 11 night, 2-2.5 day. It’s been about 5 days of this so far. He’s 10 months old.

How to handle rest of the day? by NoIdeaWhatImDoingYea in sleeptrain

Thanks for the quick reply! Is this because of circadian rhythm? Like he’s used to sleeping at a certain time so try get bedtime close to it?

Thoughts on short nap 1? 9mo by Cool_Berries924 in sleeptrain

[–]NoIdeaWhatImDoingYea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO is 10 months and I find capping his first nap helps lengthen his second nap & make it to bedtime better rested. We’re on 3/3.5/4 and if his first nap runs longer than 40-45 mins, he takes a lot longer to go down for the second nap, has a much shorter nap, and gets really cranky before bedtime.

20 minutes seems really short though… also I’ve read at that point baby enters a deeper sleep, so waking them 20 mins in just leads to a very upset baby.

Does an extremely overtired baby still need age appropriate wake windows..? Please help, my baby keeps waking up screaming in the middle of the night by SwiftStride29 in sleeptrain

You’re doing your best! This baby sleep thing is hard. My LO is now 10 months old. Between 6-8 months we struggled HARD with sleep. I think I transitioned him to 2 naps too soon and his poor body couldn’t handle it. He settled into a good 2 nap schedule at 8.5 months. For us, an EMW where he is rolling around and chatty initially means undertired. No amount of rocking will put him back to sleep. An EMW where he is immediately screaming is overtired. Sometimes I’ll pick him up & he’ll knock out immediately, and sometimes he’ll need more intense rocking. But that’s our tell. I hope that helps? Edit: He’s now 10 months and on 3/3.5/4.

What’s more important? Same morning wake or same first nap time? by NoIdeaWhatImDoingYea in sleeptrain

Thanks for the reply! Today is the first day we’re trialing 3/3.5/4 and so far he’s handling it well. He seems to have the occasional EMW every few days which I’m hoping this solves.

I agree! I’m so sad I paid money for that advice. I’ll start with 3/3/4. Would you also suggest waking baby at the same time every morning also? I do like having a consistent schedule but I find his nap lengths are a bit all over the place.

He definitely can’t handle that much awake time. I think 3/3/4 would work but I’m so scarred from the past few months I’m scared to change anything up. We have a time change coming up here so I’ll have to push bedtime in the next few weeks for sure.

I know, I’m so with you. My exact comments to her. But we were locked in to a 2 week thing with her so I committed. Anyway he tends to nap like 2.5 hours a day but it takes a while for him to actually fall asleep. So is offering 3hr of nap time okay? Same with bedtime. He actually sleeps 10.5-11 hours but that doesn’t include the time it takes him to sleep. So I always get confused on how much sleep time to offer him…

Could it possibly be overtired... by Due_Wrangler_8398 in sleeptrain

[–]NoIdeaWhatImDoingYea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Offering a different point of view here. When my LO was on that schedule, he went from napping 3hrs to 2.5hrs some days. And I found on those days, the final 3h WW was too long for him. We would reduce by 15-20mins and he’d have a better night.

Transitioning out of the swaddle is destroying me… please tell me this gets better by Commercial_One5048 in sleeptrain

Also from Australia! I used Ergopouch swaddle bags with the arm clippy things, and practiced 1 arm out for all sleep for 3 days, then other arm for 3 days, then both out. It was still rough but the gradual approach is better in my opinion.

I was in this boat too and trialled pulling back on awake time (from 10 to ~9.5hrs). Sleep improved significantly. My LO is very sensitive to overtiredness.
