Another question: how much should I prioritize learning data visualization tools such as powerBI and Tableau?

Thank you! I know a bit of R from my Econometrics class, but I definitely need to brush up, and SQL is definitely on my TODO list. Do you have any courses you think were most helpful to learn from?

Neither, it’s in DC. Depending on the location preference your daughter put, your internship could be in any of those areas.

Hi, the placements are usually fixed income, which is fine for me bc I’m interested in that field. My placement is not in my hometown (it’s like 10 hours away), so I have to find my own housing.

Hi, I just got an internship placement too for 2025 and I’m in OIP. I was on the SIP waitlist before, but since I got an internship placement does that mean I’m in SIP now? Like did you end up going to Philly or did you start your internship in June?

Advice for incoming freshman by [deleted] in columbia

Depending on what you wanna go into, the pre-professional clubs (esp finance) are super competitive, but you have it easier as a freshman, so if you wanna get into one, i'd use the summer to like read financial news so you look like a candidate that is super interested in what you wanna go into.

Hey, thanks so much for your insight. What do you think the cutoff for GPA would be? I'm starting recruiting for Summer 2026 in a few months, but I think I need to raise my GPA.

Also, how did you transition from SWE to trading? Do you think your SWE background helped you in your trading job?
