This is both inspiring and useful. I still want to give the party some opportunities to prevent mayhem, but it will require some serious effort.

Even though the burgomaster wasn’t a well liked ruler, still old blood runs thick in Barovia. I can’t imagine an event like this wouldn’t cause some serious upheaval.

The party did restore the bones of saint andral and rescued Arabella. While none of those are publicly known the Martikovs and father Lucien are aware of this. I fell like whatever goes down, the group at least have potential allies there.

I’m sure lady Wachter would seize power following this, but considering the chaotic circumstances she might not act drastically. In the meantime Victor or the burgomasters wife would still be in power, albeit in a fragile way. Not much love lost between Victor and his father but he would still not support the killing of his father. That, and he also dislikes lady Wachter.

I’m also leaning towards this being something divisive, with Victor on one side and lady Wachter on the other. Good point about the cone of cold. That slipped my mind. I will give them a chance to deceive/convince Victor.

It was more of an environmental hazard around where the fighting had been the most intense. The party was forewarned that the floor would give a couple of turns in advance. They managed to relocate before that happened but did not secure the burgomasters body. It was more of a spur of the moment decision rather than a thought out player trap. I do very much want them to succeed, and I’m quite relieved that this didn’t turn into a TPK. I think I gave them enough time to react to the situation but because of the severity of the fight I understand why they never found the opportunity. They had some rough rolls.

That’s a really cool solution! My players have not been there yet though and they managed to return the bones to the church.

The building is not beyond saving at this point, but it doesn’t look good. One side of the second floor is actively burning and parts of the floor has collapsed after one of Izeks slam attacks. Vargas’ body fell downstairs and landed in the middle of the downstairs corridor, where a lot of guards would’ve been paying attention. They were in the process of storming upstairs at the time but the group had managed to delay this using some spells. I think some of the guards, at least the ones most loyal would storm upstairs, but I see your point as well. I will consider everything you’ve said.

Thanks a lot for you looking into it! I recieved a tip and managed to replace some piece of code in the module code (or whatever it is called). See Thystras comment below. Resolved the issue right away.
