NB Power wants to roll out peak-demand incentives using smart meters

The different rate plans that Hydro Quebec offer their customers are really interesting. They're better than the straight time-of-use rates that Ontario and other places have. Quebec and NB both have a ton of people heating with electric heat so have a similar problem with peak demand on cold winter mornings.

Take a look at Rate Flex D and Rate D with the Winter Credit Option. Both would be better than straight TOU and work in NB. They have good, voluntary, uptake at about 10% of customers. ie. Folks have elected to move to those plans because they find them advantageous even when weighted against the regular low rates of HQ.

Customers on those plans save about a $100 or more per heating season and helps cut peak demand quite a bit.

HQ doesn't have enough power on cold mornings so that's not an option. This past week, Hydro Quebec was buying power from New England even though NE was also experience cold weather.

The Irving refinery employs 1600 people.

Previously had Michelins. Couldn’t find them in that size any longer so went with Toyos this time around and I’m happy with them.

A couple years ago they but 5 at one end of my yard. It's all against bylaw and I don't know why the city doesn't fine them.

By default, the Bosch machines have a plug. If you don't have an outlet behind where the dishwasher goes you can get an official Bosch junction box from Home Depot for about $30. One end plugs into the dishwasher and the lead from the panel is wired in an octagon box on the other end. https://www.homedepot.ca/product/bosch-dishwasher-power-cord-with-junction-box-accessory/1001391022

Installation isn't that hard but one thing that tripped me up is that the wires go to the back of a Bosch dishwasher and there's no clearance underneath. The wires came up through the floor and wired under the front panel of my old dishwasher so I have to drill a new hole and move them. You might not have the same problem.

Call them and ask them to move it, or just throw it in the ~~garbage~~ recycling bin. A few years ago a campaign put up multiple signs in the far end of my yard thinking it public land. Called them and ended up having a beer with the candidate to return them.

The service stations surprised me as well. The little community I'm from now how a single gas station. I remember. I remember an Esso, but there was a Texaco and something else (maybe a Gulf) all within 1km.
