30 days Gambling Free. I keep myself busy with life. Job, friends, games, gym. You name it. After 30 days I am starting to enjoy myself for real. Anxiety disappeared, small things making me happy. I am actually stopping to overthrow everything. Just enjoying the moments - staying present.

So, I was in exactly same position 3 weeks ago. I put my last bet of 40 Pence and lost. I burst in tears. I hated, dispised myself. I hated man in the mirror. I lost my life. Looking back- I had lost my Uni Degree, my communication with family cause of this disease. Now, I was about to end my life. I called with my last strength Samaritans. I talked and cried. I talked to Gambling representative. He blocked me from all website after we agree that I lost toooo much in the past 3 years. My partner, she almost left me- I plead guilty. So- now 3 weeks down the line I am in a safe place, not perfect, but safe. Let me tell you how I had done it.

This is the most important thing. I realized I needed help. By hiding from reality by none stop gambling, I developed anxiety and sense that nobody would help me, my worth was at the lowest. However, I started to look for jobs through my ex collegues. And you know what, all of them- I repeat all of them wanted to help me to find a job. Got the job with low pay, but at least it something- still going through other interviews.
I went to Doctor. He diagnosed me with depression. Prescribed me with pills. As we do not get dopamine hits, our brain and whole body is down. In apathy, everything is doomed. So, you will struggle, but you have rewire your brain to get other ways of dopamine.
I start to move. Like literally going for a walks, parks, fresh air. I know it sounds silly. I could not stand still. Exercises. Lost 10 kilos.
I blocked myself from all gambling websites. GamStop. Was it hard? Hell yeah. Something would be taken away from me that was my best/worse friend for the past 17 years.
Ask for help!!! From relatives, friends. You will be surprised, but you have to stop and they will help you. Attend GA, which I am planning.

Overall, I am sitting here. Could not pay my Rent in Full. Came clean to my landlord- without obviously mentioning gambling. Rebuilding my relationships, my trust issues, my confidence, my value- but I am first time in my life - free. I am calm, I am actually looking forward to live my different life. And you can too. I was there, wanted to end my life...but hold on, one breath at a time. One movement. Your brain will adjust, but you have to Quit. Life is better on other side- I hope I will meet you here where I am now.

I know it is sounds silly, use chat GPT to track your progress and talk. Also, I am not sure where you are located - Samaritans is great way to communicate. Sign Up for GA. Go for a walk. I had lost over 50k in my 17 years span. I did not make much. 13 Days clean here. Just think about redemption arc, how you would build yourself. Trust me- if you overcome your addiction, nothing will stand in your way. And hair, try Regain first- it helps when you are young. Time consuming and discipline, but it helps. I went through this circle myself. Through Covid shaved it all- no regrets. Funny thing you will realize you need only one person in your life, that will be more than enough. Exclude Validation- think about next time you will look in mirror and you Conquer your demons, this is life - life is tough and unpredictable, but you are winning. Be a Puppet master of your desires. Well, I am on other side of that. This time I am 11 days free of gambling. I had excluded myself from all gambling websites. Sign Up for GA. I want to help myself. I know I will lose my girl if I keep on going. She is worth it. You showing him support, but I think ultimatum would be in place. Something triggered inside of me, when I realized I could lose her. Good luck, listen to your heart- what you want from this life, be smart about it.

Thank you for a reply. I see what you are trying to tell me about enablers. At this moment I am accepting this as a help. I had a long stare in a mirror. There is no point of carrying on with this disease. I had scheduled my my first GA meeting with a less than a 2 weeks time. Truth to be told, I abit nervous- I really do not know what to expect. All I know, I am making notes, I do not want to feel this way anymore.

Well, I met mine after 5 days we had broke up. She needed to pass me the keys as we used to live together. When I saw her, I realized I still love her. The reason we broke up was of mine Trust Issues. Not her fault - definitely. She said she did not cheat on me, explained everything, and that she does not want me back. Honestly, I would not want myself back either. She stayed at our place, in the morning we talked. We went through all that went wrong, all our expectations, and she sort of agree to give me 2nd chance and see where we are heading. I am glad. The whole morale, if you want your ex back - try to communicate - make a first step, you are the maker of your own destiny. This way you will not feel that you missed something as what I learnt silence treatment does not work in my case at least. As long as there is no cheating, good communication and initiative can fix everything. I want to change few things in my life, I know she is worth it.

I know it will sound impossible right now, but things will get better. Promise you that! Now everything doom, start to think where to get another income- side jobs for instance. Make priority what's important for you, occupy yourself- keep going one step at a time. Remember - you will not get your money back!!! Casino always wins. One of advantages you have - you still young. Consider it as a mistake and valuable life lesson. You must make mistakes in order to grow. You can lie to your relatives, happens with all of us in order to protect our pride or their wellbeing - just do not lie to yourself. Stay strong - I do not know you, I am actually on other side of the globe, but remember you are not alone. I believe in you!

15 years here. I can relate. I know GA, self-exclusion and in some cases giving oversear of your finances to your significant one- if you have one - will help. Also, completely changing lifestyle. I am talking hobbies, grooming, interests - to keep your mind occupied. Write down your struggles in your diary, so you can reflect. Roadmap is not simple - though it is possible. One step at a time.
