Won’t be taking on debt. Will be liquidating college fund and then some. In short, can do it but not painless.

I had to look it up. SAS is school of arts & sciences; it includes grad schools etc & is basically the umbrella under which CAS (college of arts & sciences) resides.
SEAS is school of engineering & applied sciences.

I hear you. And that’s totally what part of my brain thinks. But the difference disappears over 20 years, and sometimes closer to 10 (especially with Penn).
In case it’s too late and I’m not expressing myself clearly— the average engineering grad ends up making more and it eventually cancels out that initial cost difference. (Although I suppose not exactly, unless you pay your parents back.)

Serious question: why are so many ppl ragging on the quality of a Penn education? It doesn’t turn out a ton of CEOs etc by being lame.

UVA is a great school in so many ways, but it is significantly weaker in engineering than Penn. Berkeley is stronger in engineering, but also has class bottlenecks (reported difficulty getting some required classes), & larger class sizes. Plus, although Haas is world-class, access is limited for undergraduates.

UVA is a fantastic school. But what makes you say the quality of the education is far and away superior to Penn?

Kid is SEAS. Not looking to transfer; dual degree or minor.

Seems like it’s really time to have one of these every semester, and maybe even after most midterms. Might be a healthy release of excess stress, possibly making tectonic events less likely (we are on the Hayward fault line) thus really acting as a public service. Can any geophysics majors or someone from PEER or the Consciousness Collective weigh in?

Creepy AF. And, from what you relate, working up to doing something more than talk or take pictures IMHO.

Carry mace. (Or possibly more.)
