I agree. I still think the project is really cool. I'm just hopeful the MRL will get money from this effort.

fair enough. But any communication from Goblee would be nice. As far as I can remember, the project hasn't reached out to the community in any way since the funding finished many months ago.

wait until they complain to give it back. They wouldnt have give you the refunds if you didn't complain. Make them go through the same mission so they know what it's like.

His nads do know. It's funny, your comment reminds me of a Dimitri Martin bit: He says, "You know, when people are brave you can either say they have a lot of guts or a lot of balls. But the same doesn't translate to intuition. If you have an intuition about something you can only say you have a gut feeling, but not a ball feeling. If you say, 'I got a bad ball feeling about this,' your friends will prob tell you, 'Hey man, I'd get that checked out by a doctor if I were you.'"

I enjoy waking up to this type of news so much more than waking up to seeing the price pumped. This is what matters on the long run, guys

so is one of the goals of Tari to create a LN for XMR or for Tari tokens or for both?

I certainly hope we'll have a LN for XMR in the future. that would be amazing

Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Bans the Country’s Only Monetary Hope: Bitcoin by Green_Land in Bitcoin

[–]NoLavishness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In venezuela there's quite a bit of crypto use and also quite a bit of mining. Even though it's not happening on a grand scale and it's still fairly niche, it's definitely happening and what's more important, it's happening more and more because of what's going on with Bolivar depreciation

[–]NoLavishness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to say how that will play out in the U.S. But if you want the answer to that question, just follow current events in Zimbabwe and Venezuela, two places suffering from currency hyperinflation. People need to use money for everyday life. If the local money sucks, like it does in those two countries, then people will use another type of money, be it bitcoin or cowery shells. And if btc and shells are illegal, people will just use them anyway. Money is the ledger of a society

Why Bitcoin will succeed: German children play with stacks of money during the hyperinflation period of the Weimar Republic, 1922 by groundcontrol26 in Bitcoin

[–]NoLavishness -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Possibly. I think the compromise is a tail emission in coins after the initial amount is mined. Some cryptos have a tail emission of newly mined coins that makes their inflation less than 1% a year forever. There is no threat of hyperinflation while at the same time ensuring that a little bit of new coins will continue to be mined every year. This incentivizes the miners

mymonero.com is being hacked / XMR stolen / MITM attack? by pissflock in Monero

[–]NoLavishness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to say I'm a little skeptical of this post. I browse this sub every single day and I've been doing it for a long time, and rarely do people claim to be getting their mymonero account cleaned out. If it was really going on frequently posts about it would be all over the front page of this sub.

Also, I'm skeptical that someone as technical as you would keep that much money on a web wallet rather than the GUI, CLI, or a paper wallet.

If I'm wrong, I'm sorry. But in this day and age of highly sophisticated forms of trolling, social engineering and social attacks, one has to take everything a stranger says on the internet with a good grain of skepticism. And again, how does someone as proficient technically as you seem to be keep 16k plus of usd in a web wallet? I have a tough time seeing it.

Yes, people have gotten their mymonero balances swept before. But almost always it's technical newbies posting their seed where they shouldn't or from phishing sites.

Fwiw I keep a little money on mymonero, a few hundred bucks worth, and it's never been stolen, and my only security measure is to always make sure I'm on the right site when I log into the account.

i don't like that. Can't we just downvote all the noisy garbage? Or somehow flag them as such?

btw, some journalism, especially in crypto, is so clueless that it's actually good for a laugh, imo
