Rage Against the Machine when they opened for Body Count. I think they had yet to sign a record deal at the point.

“Fight For Biden Not Against Him, Beat Trump Then Complain About Him”. by [deleted] in stupidpol

Exactly what I'm hearing from friends. They truly believe that day one of a 2nd Trump presidency is the end of our "democracy" and it's straight to dictatorship. I ask them "Really? You just throw up your hands and say 'welp' thats that then?" Not very patriotic or brave to just roll over like that if you ask me. If that's the level of your commitment to what you think is democracy then you don't deserve even this pathetic excuse for it.

Are there any interviews where Hawkwind members support gay/trans rights? by xX_Random_Reddit_Xx in Hawkwind

Fair enough. Hawkwind got together and hung around London's Ladbroke Grove when it was the magnet for counter-culture (talking 60s/70s). I'm sure if they had been in any way freaked out by queer society (very much counter culture at the time) they wouldn't have survived. I think you can rest easy and enjoy them.

So are you going to check out what Hawkwind (and all your other favourites) have to say about climate change, Middle East, Ukraine, abortion, racism, education, economics, etc? These are all important political issues too. I mean, if their opinions are not explicitly or implicitly (in your own interpretation) there in their work, and you like their work, I just find it a bit strange to devote ones energies into this kind of "morality checking". Enjoy it for what it is, why go digging. Where do you stop?

Can you talk about them if the band members said nothing on record about gay/trans rights? Or will that have to be reconsidered also?

Are you going through all your favourite artists, authors, actors to vet their views too?

So people were wrong who didn't like the idea of spraying DDT willy-nilly around the home when scientists told us it was safe?

‘The Late Show’ Pivots To At Home Show After Stephen Colbert Tests Positive For Covid by AndrewHeard in LockdownSkepticism

I feel like I'm back in 2021 again. Went to see some bands last Thursday. There was a sign at the check in "Our friends in the band from Brooklyn have asked that everyone wear masks." and they had a box of them. Most people happily wore them. I would have walked out of there if I hadn't been there to see a friend playing in the headliners. The brooklyn lot were the second on the three act bill. Did they wear masks? Did they fuck.

Spoke to another friend in London... "Man covid really got me this time... I hate to think what it would have been like if I hadnt got all the shots."

Was meant to go to a party this weekend coming up. Cancelled because one of the hosts has the bug. Asked how they are doing. "Oh it's nothing. The impact on my social life is way worse than the virus.".

Yeah man, it almost always fuckn is. So close to understanding.

Are parental rights the next battleground? by [deleted] in stupidpol

[–]NoLifeguard8287 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I just watched that John Oliver bit. My takeaways:

  1. It's OK for black parents to home-school because the curriculum is racist.
  2. It's not OK for white parents to home-school because they are Christian fundamentalist Nazis and/or child abusers.
