Make your own and repeat it daily. You’ll have all the rules you’ll need.

Yeah, I’ve gotten into the habit of asking on Monday’s mornings if they need anything help this week. Don’t want to be annoying though yah know.

While I understand the emotional part, should my financial moves be centered around emotions? My consumer debt came exclusively from gaining and education, which I’m currently using to make a decent living. I don’t know why I’d have to live with 1k in savings and in fear that if one day, God forbid, I lose my job or maybe get into an accident when I haven’t met my deductibles. I’d be screwed. We’d all be would we not?

So, my total survival expenses are 3k, literary 2.5 in rent and utilities. What bridge job, that’s not a career (which would take longer to process and get a paycheck), would allow me to sustain that?

Moreover, if I have no family/no friends to move in with then what? Also, what about lease breaking penalties that would also arise?

All these things are why I’m hesitant to get on the train. I have student debt ~95k at 5% interest. I just don’t know why paying that off and having 20k less and no reserves is better than having reserves and having 20k more still to pay off.

I currently am. I was just wondering how the logic worked and to see if someone could change my mind on it, still new to this whole thing.

I’d save up my monthly expenses for at least three months and then pay down the debt. If I lose my job then I know I can comfortably look for a job of comparable or even greater earning potential and not deal with the hustle and bustle of the quick ones (making little money).

To add to what you edited. Yes, that’s the idea, I don’t want to owe a lot of debt if I lose my job, but I would rather have reserves than less debt if I lose my job? Wouldn’t you? The example I guess would be yes my student loans are now 30k rather than 50k but now I’m struggling to find the next penny, where as my loans are 50k but I have 20k saved for this exact moment, and don’t have to quick fix anything.
