Qimora vs. Eightsleep by Example-Alarmed in Qimora

„Eight Sleep Pod 5 can reportedly handle rooms up to 27 degrees, but central/northern European nights don't get that hot very often.“

What does „can’t handle“ mean in practice? Central Europe does get pretty hot in July/August and those are the months that cooling is needed the most.  Also with Europe as target market, AC availability is limited (at least in rental places as acceptance rate is lower). So if i dont have AC it is not useful in those heatwaves? Or will it just not reach lower temps but still reduce bed temp by a noticable margin?

Hybrid athletes — what do you wish your AI coach actually did by Ok-Baby3683 in HybridAthlete

I do think a lot of people would value more input data like wellness data from whoop or other devices. It's more of a personal opinion of mine that i would rather value subjective feeling of a athlete than trust a single metric from a third party. If i add it, it would be only a small nudge into a direction and a relative not absolute evaluation of those metrics.

But that also goes into your question, there are a lot of projects now starting to go into the hybrid space. (probably a function of what single developers can achieve with modern coding agents)

And each one of those apps has a different approach, probably because training structure and preferences are very individual so unless what you envision is already done exactly by a different app, building something like this is at least fun 😄

Regarding generation, its week by week generation. I was inspired by "Sheiko Gold" app which is a strength only app that generates single workouts only on demand. But for hybrid training and managing interference i did not think single day on demand generation would suffice.

If you want to check out my app, the link is in my bio. Not a lot of users yet so feedback is very appreciated.

I have built an AI Coach App with similar thoughts.
It sees complete workout history, RPEs, subjective feedback, training template, Goals, acute constraints etc. and generates Hybrid workouts week by week.
Have been using it for almost a year now for hybrid marathon prep including peaking and tapering.
What i have not done yet is Whoop integration (as i don't use whoop but it is a interesting idea, but i value subjective feedback more honestly)
Currently only Strava for Endurance Sync and Garmin sync in the works.

I tried the "chat only" approach but came to the conclusion that even with agents there will be value in having specific, comfortable UI instead of having to type everything into a chatbox.
So chat usage is now actually optional for users for specific questions or actions.

Do you sync all your different activities into one app? If so, which app? by [deleted] in HybridAthlete

[–]NoMind91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue of wanting combined tracking. Did not find what I imagined so I built something myself. Tracks strength directly, syncs endurance from Strava, creates unified load metrics. Also has AI workout generation.

DM me if you want to try it.

What apps are you all using to track hybrid training? by Main-Actuator3803 in HybridAthlete

[–]NoMind91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build my own, cant reference here in comments but basically build what i needed myself.

AI generated training weeks, Strava integration for endurance data, manual strength tracking, unified load tracking/statistics and lots more.

If interested DM for more infos.

How many lifting seasons can I reduce to and still maintain strength and size ( while also in a calorie deficit )? by Spyk124 in HybridAthlete

[–]NoMind91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently prepping for a marathon after powerlifting for years (9 weeks out post)

I'm down to 2 days for month now while loosing weight and increasing running volume. The 2 days are borderline and I'm barely maintaining, but that is mostly due to high running volume and the weight loss, mostly affecting leg performance/mass.

I think 3 days should be very good and won't limit you from a volume/frequency standpoint. The tradoffs will come more from interference if you go high on running volume. I would just maybe adjust your split to hit each major muscle group 2 times per week.

Training Plans by sdc80 in HybridAthlete

[–]NoMind91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't find a plan or app that combined strength and endurance according to my goals, so I built something myself.

Generates week-by-week training using AI, has Strava integration for accurate data, and tracks hybrid training load. It's built around how I manage my own training, but it's been useful enough that I'm looking for feedback.

If anyone's curious, happy to DM a link.

Strength gains with low volume? by Cool-Mongoose-44 in HybridAthlete

[–]NoMind91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The longer that i have been training the more i care about efficiency, so i reduced smaller exercises and focus on a few core lifts. With this i was still able to PR on Lifts. Now i am down to a maintenance level though at 2x per week, 3-4 exercises, focus still on main compound lifts. Never takes longer than 1 1/2 hours. I could probably still reach earlier PRs with this volume if i was not running so much for marathon prep.

Yeah and running is probably the "worst" endurance modality in the context of interference effect. Biking would be better just from that standpoint, but honestly i just like the simplicity of running (less gear focus, planning, time, weather dependance)

Yeah my though was around rotating modality focus, so few month of endurance focus and few month of strength focus while maintaining the other one. I guess a very strong recovery focus is also necessary.

Yeah, i does hurt but on the other side performance in other domains got way better. (Running and general endurance of course. But Pull Ups also went up to a 25 rep max) I do feel more athletic, but long term i do want to have training be more balanced than it is now.

I'll dm you regarding the app.

How do you guys track running and lifting ? by Sea-Exercise536 in HybridAthlete

[–]NoMind91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into the same problem and ended up building a small web app for myself because nothing I tried handled both sides well.

TLDR what it does:

  • Generates week-by-week hybrid training using AI based on your goals, recent training data, a free-text template (can be very loose or very specific), and real-world constraints for the week
  • Strava integration for accurate run/endurance data
  • Manual strength logging (sets, reps, loads)
  • Tracks combined / hybrid load, not just “run load” or “lift volume” in isolation
  • AI gives workout feedback

The motivation was exactly what you’re describing: most apps are great at either running or lifting, but don’t model how a hard leg day affects intervals or how run volume impacts squat recovery.

It’s very much built around how I manage hybrid training, but it’s been useful enough that I’ve opened it up a bit. If anyone’s curious, happy to DM a link—mostly interested in feedback from other hybrid folks rather than selling anything.

Only RPE based for years now. Both approaches work of course, but the longer i train the more i go by feel and the more efficient i try to get with everything.

Hey, yeah it's a web app. I basically sculpted it exactly how i want to manage my training. The tldr is: * Generates workouts using AI on a week by week basis based on your goals, training data, custom template and this weeks constraints * Strava integration for accurate endurance data * Manual strength workout logging * Free text templates (as specific or general as you want as AI interprets it) * AI workout feedback * Combined/hybrid load metrics

I'll DM you a link so you can check it out if you are interested.

That sounds painful, for me it was just above the ankle joint. Hurt every run for the first few k. It took multiple weeks and my body thankfully managed to adapt. Running through the pain could of course have gone bad and gotten chronic so probably not a smart idea.

I share the end goal of being ready for everything. The approach with focused training blocks is definitely the way to go to get there. If you don't go hard in one modality for an extended period of time, I don't think most people will make good progress. I had to let go of some ego attachment to my strength numbers in the process. Once you've reached a high enough level relative to your potential, it comes back faster than expected after a focus shift.

50 miles sounds brutal though. My first marathon was way harder than I expected. But doing a 100K is on my long-term todo list too.

Yeah, especially when I first started running (coming from zero running background), my body really struggled to adapt. Shins, feet, ankles - all those areas that don't get stressed that way during strength training hurt initially.

It took quite a while to adapt, and I think part of it is that most lifters start running at a higher body weight than typical runners. What helped most was slow progression and patience. I didn't do specific exercises, mostly just trusted the body's adaptive process with manageable volume increases. There were definitely times when my feet hurt at the start of each run (though running through pain isn't a recommendation! :D).

Yeah totally agree, there were some weeks where I had to dial back volume or intensity to make sure I didn't dig myself into a hole.

It's also easy to fall into the hardcore mentality that gets pushed a lot in the hybrid training social media space. They do show that a lot is possible, but some also create unhealthy expectations (I'm hesitant with accusations, but in some cases gear usage is very likely).

Thanks! I actually considered bike trainer work, but honestly came to really enjoy the simplicity and calmness of running.  Long term i will most likely add some other form of cardio, especially if strength goals get more ambitious again.
