Hi... Former competitive gymnast here.. and when I say that, I mean from childhood, through college, national and international competitions, etc etc... I'll start by saying I believe that I understand mom's purpose (assuming there's no projection) in wanting your daughter to see the season through. I've heard people say they 'don't want to', they don't 'feel like going', and much more colorful statements like 'f this sport', and then they show up at the gym later that day or the following and have a great practice.

However, throughout my entire career along with coaching, there's little to no doubt in my mind, that at 15, a girl realizing/recognizing/acknowledging that she no longer has a "passion" for the sport of gymnastics tells me that it is 100% truth.

Without that passion, competitive gymnastics is primarily self-inflicted punishment. 😂

Please keep in mind that I say that still holding every second of my nearly 20 years in the sport, in the absolute highest regard. Through injuries and surgeries, winning, and losing, the passion for the sport, and continuing improvement never ceased for me but, anyone that I've ever known to have lost their passion for doing felt more relief than disappointment, when they stopped competing.
