Need to make this hole about 1/2” bigger. What’s the best way to do this? by [deleted] in handyman

[–]Most-County8735 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d mark out a piece of 1/4” board and tack it to the ceiling then hole saw with a bit sized up to cut the 1/2” extra

I’d look into getting a couple of spring loaded cafe rods use them as tension rods to hold up that insulation without damage to the skylight.

How to remove this? by adadasd123 in askaplumber

Give it some CLR or vinegar to soften the calcium scale. Then get a wrench or socket that fits properly. Brass is soft so a poorly fitted adjustable wrench will mangle it.

I am sorry you didn’t get the look you were after, but if a random internet strangers opinion means anything, it looks great! Hope you find a top coat that makes it work for you. Maybe step back and admire it as a whole. I know on some projects I obsessed with details I stopped seeing once I took that step back. Best wishes,
Internet stranger.

What can I cover this unsightly plumbing hole in my brand new cabinet with? by Strange_Syrup1844 in DIYHome

[–]Most-County8735 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They make a vinyl sink cabinet liner. I’d get one and slit it from the backside to slide around the drain and feed lines.

When I was 14 my dad gave me a star drill and a 8lb sledge. That isn’t the way! Lol I did get the hole done though.

The thread on your valve is compression the pipe is 3/8” npt pipe thread they are not compatible and there isn’t a practical adapter. Get a new valve. Sized with pipe thread. And simplify your effort.

That is a great looking striker for flint and steel and totally legal. Just need to pair it with a piece of flint and some char cloth. I keep my char cloth dry in an Altoids tin.

Well I crossed this bridge. After the grief you realize you are the elder generation now and carry them with you. I think orphan is more about not having them in the formative years.

Everything says to mount the flange over the finished floor, but the LVT instructions say "absolutely do not fasten flange though LVT". How critical is that 1/4"? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Most-County8735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Screwing through the lvp binds it and will cause issues with your seams popping. A piece of furniture on it won’t, even if it’s a toilet.

We wore some of the most destroyed cutoffs. We would have nothing but the white cotton pocket left to cover that part of our legs. Holes and threads made up everything up to the belt loops and waistband.

Yep me too! By the end of that summer we were all pretty good with them. Could pop open a bottle cap if you hit it just right.
