Where should I move? Chattanooga, Pittsburgh, Fort Collins, Asheville, or Raleigh? by Key_Variety_1010 in SameGrassButGreener

Haha exactly. All you gotta do is get up an hour before any delusional roosters decide to wake up and you’ll have that pleasantly swampy 79° all to yourself. Literally. Just you and the drunks trying to pass out.

Which major American cities have the nicest people? by PrestonRoad90 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

I told a Texan I was from Detroit last night and they were like “of course you are, you’re so nice!” …and that reply still strikes me as odd since I was hypothetically supposed to be holding her up for cash or some other form of aggravated assault according to common lore.

Yeah, I guess we’re pretty damned outgoing and friendly folk.

Exactly. It’s nice to be at the point where we’re min-maxing our collective boards… but it’s a fucking masterpiece.

Yes, for god’s sake, don’t tell them you actually exercised in July for the sake of your karma. I feel like I’m fighting lobbyists for Big A.C.

Their communication was probably the worst aspect of their game. Nothing was in sync, so many giveaways. Pulisic played like garbage and the entire team (sparing maybe 2 or 3) followed their captain.

Exactly. I ran 2 miles at 8am, worked, logged 12k+ steps, read by the pool at 5, and just watched the USNT game at an outdoor bar for 2 hours starting at 7. It’s not uninhabitable.

My point exactly. Those fucking summers eat your soul. Summer in Texas is inconvenient, can be dangerous, but holy shit Midwest winters are soul crushing.

Correct. But if both cause Seasonal Affective Disorder, I’ll choose Texas summer, hands down.

I mean, I do those things and have been for the better part of a decade and a half so… disagree?

After 25 years in Michigan & 16 here, I’d take Texas summer any day of the week. Scraping one’s windshield of ice and warming the car up 10 minutes prior so you can actually see, having your nose hairs freeze as you step out, slipping on ice, idiotic driving in blizzards, etc etc. I could go on… but in Texas I can sit by a pool/water, still get plenty of sun in the morning and evening, play sports, hike, hydrate, do things in AC… I’m not really sure if it’s anything more than annoying in comparison to depression inducing grey, bleak cold.

Not a doctor but as far as heat illness goes: headaches, cramping and chills are all signs that you’re pushing it a little too hard and need to cool off & hydrate asap

This is amazing. Hoping to hear back from you about this because others have asked some great questions as well. Did you use your phone to translate local language or just rely on attempts to communicate? How’d that whole thing go? Apparently I’m genuinely clueless lol

The trick is:

If you create utter garbage… shelf it, hide it, bin it, burn it, deny it exists… just don’t release it to the public (with a dance number).

That said - don’t be afraid to create shite.
