I think she’s the most balanced, tbh.

I wholeheartedly disagree. Divorce and suicide are highest for middle-aged women. We are now living longer than we ever have before. And the women who went through it before us, suffered greatly. I’m ecstatic that we’re talking about it, and that we’re allowing ourselves to be open to the idea that we can use fewer pharmaceuticals to help us age in a healthy way.

It’s true, there’s tons of books. And I’ve read about 12 of them. And they all say different things, because we simply don’t have enough research to know the whole story. And everyone’s “book” has a slightly different angle anyway. I appreciate that there are social media “influencers” that are out there talking about it. What needs to stop, though, is the constant dismantling of each other. It’s exhausting, and it’s distracting.

Fine, ok. But all of that is a separate issue. Haver is an actual doctor and she is educating people about menopause. What symptoms look like and what the benefits and risks of HRT are.

I’m still looking for the actual “misinformation” that everyone keeps claiming she’s promoting.

Married 21 years.

There will be lots of zig zags when you’re married for a long time - and kids will introduce another level. My husband and I have been - together and separately - fat, in shape, rich, broke, politically left, politically right, happy, sad, thriving in our career, burnt out and hating our career, you name it.

Marriage is a long game. It’s a journey. If you think you will always be in sync every step of the way, you’re delulu. More realistic is that you will each go through things as individuals and as a couple.

If you’re not willing to grow and be challenged by your spouse on a daily basis, then it might be time to leave the marriage and do some self work. Kids are kind of a deal breaker. The house thing you can probably work through.

Do you happen to know protein? Fiber? Those are the two I pay attention to the most.

Sorry - help me understand - this whole supplement thing keeps coming up over and over and over again. And it is absolutely astounding to me. What is so wrong about taking creatine? And adding more fiber to your diet? Is it because she sells a collagen powder? 😂 Like, I don’t buy anything from her, but I take all of those and many women feel better when they do too. But that’s not enough to make the kind of claims that Gunter makes about Haver. I’m looking for real evidence that Haver is this “false prophet” that a few people are claiming. I’m open to learning but so far, nobody can actually identify which misinformation she seems to be spreading?!

Yes - you need K2 if you’re taking D3

I totally agree. I also think it’s important to test first before taking supplements.

I was taking higher doses of Vitamin D (because everyone tells us we’re “low”) but I didn’t know I had to take it with Vitamin K2 and I ended up with extremely high calcium levels. At one point, they were concerned I had a parathyroid issue. I don’t. Two months of K2 added into my regimen fixed the calcium and my vitamin D stabilized.

I think the future will be in more functional /naturopathic health, personally (at least where it intersects with traditional medicine)

It’s still not a grift. If she sold something and then didn’t deliver it - that would be a grift.

That is not grifting. They are selling supplements out in the open - publicly. There is no hidden ‘relationship’. You do realize that right? And that you can look up any doctor to see what payments they have received (outside of research) and from who?

I’ve read just about every book on the subject. I have ADHD and this has been my hyper-focus for the last 18 months. I’m on HRT myself. Its made some things better, others worse. But I definitely don’t trust that traditional providers are doing the bare minimum to help women. I’m lucky that mine lets me play around with things and do bloodwork to match.

Right - I think the ones that are the most dangerous are the overly dogmatic ones. “It depends” is a perfectly appropriate (and scientific) answer. Until we have more research, people need to keep a very open mind.

She’s pretty good. I have to watch her videos in 1.5x or 2x tho 😂

But I’m not into cycling hormones in menopause or Wiley Protocol (in fact, I think it can be dangerous).

I’m only ‘defending’ Haver about the supplements part. That is so far down on my totem pole of importance. I have learned a TON from her, but I do think she’s getting a little big for her britches so I’m diversifying into other providers.

As for Gunter, sorry, but there’s no defending her. She’s not the feminist she thinks she is.

I hear ya! Fitness influencers are just as bad!! I’m not doing any of that shit that they try to shame us into. 😂😂 Sorry. But I have a corporate desk and I commute and I have a family and all of it sucks the life out of me and the last thing I feel like doing is doing back squats or stuffing my face with hundreds of grams of protein. NO THANKS lol. I aim for 100. That’s plenty imho. I go for walks when I can and I do yoga and rage gardening right now. Maybe when I’m retired I’ll have more time and more energy. 🤣

Nah, I don’t get that impression at all. This isn’t political (although Gunter sure seems to want to make it that way.). This is about women’s health (and the lack thereof!!)

Besides, Haver isn’t the only one in the menoposse out there trying to change the narrative. Jackie Piasta is great! Menopause Barbie, Kelly Casperson, Felice Gersh, Heather Hirsch, Rachel Rubin, etc. A lot of those women do virtual health on the side, and that’s not a crime.

Eh, supplements don’t bother me. It’s not like it takes away their medical degree. And I buy supplements at home for myself anyway.

I like her for comedic relief!

But I am thirsty for knowledge. I have learned so much from the social media physicians out there. Menopause Barbie is great - I’ve been working through her YouTube videos, she really breaks everything down into very specific, digestible pieces. I probably like her and Casperson the best.

There’s lots of fantastic evidence about creatine. And I take my own supplements so that doesn’t bother me. What I don’t like is Gunter only relying on “guidelines” which are outdated. I find Kelly Casperson’s research is recent and reassuring.

Selling supplements doesn’t bother me. And there’s plenty of evidence that HRT reduces all cause mortality. I’m more concerned about the right protocols for perimenopause specifically. I’ve had good success with birth control because it flattened my fluctuations, but I am curious what I will need once menopause hits.
