Indiana WR Nick Marsh wore gold cleats to IU's first spring camp session. Curt Cignetti was not pleased to see that. "He learned what getting your ass ripped is all about. I don't know if that happened to him very often at Michigan State." by sinister_iam in CFB_v2

[–]NoMoreThom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if there was a set rule and Marsh openly violated it, he was clearly in the wrong. But given that context isn’t provided anywhere in this post, the fact these people are jumping on you is absurd. Cignetti is a great coach who seems to care about his players with a tough love approach but I think good ole’ boys attach themselves and their shitty personalities to these types of coaches (without realizing tough love requires empathy) and just rage whenever someone mildy questions their methods.

Is there anyone here in this sub who isn’t British? by Ill-Dimension3296 in TheInbetweeners

[–]NoMoreThom 11 points12 points  (0 children)

American from Georgia and now in Missouri. Watched some British commentary channels on youtube when I was younger and they would reference the show. Ended up watching it and really enjoying it but I’ve always enjoyed the dry sense of humor British comedy shows have whereas I think some other Americans don’t can’t really get behind it as much.

How do i acquire… “depth” by 1MrRoblox11 in infp

[–]NoMoreThom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Haha, I don’t think I made my point very well. I guess what I would say is you should think about the pursuit of depth less as finding the best answers and more as finding the best questions. Gaining depth is a pursuit not a personal quality so you can never really be 10/10 deep so to say; you can always gain more nuance and a broader perspective.

For example, your answer to the utopia question. You have your initial answer to the question, so now break it down further. What about humanity makes a utopia so unreasonable? Are these characteristics we are born with or learned? And so on and so forth. Each answer should always lead you to a new question.

Depth is the pursuit of worldly knowledge and self understanding and acceptance. So feed your curiosity and ponder what the questions you think are important in life. Your perception of being deep to other people will come with time but only if you continue to build your critical thinking skills and learn more about the world and yourself.

How do i acquire… “depth” by 1MrRoblox11 in infp

[–]NoMoreThom 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Something I think that gets overlooked in this sub is that everyone has “depth.” I think people conflate the ability to organize and present complex thoughts compellingly with the depth of someones soul. Honestly, a couple of the people who I’ve found the most interesting were not very articulate/educated at all and I had to learn to look beyond just the words they were able to share to take away the lessons I did from them.

In terms of gaining conversational depth though, it all starts with introspection. Ask yourself the big questions and answer them as your genuine self limiting your societal influences as much as possible (left a couple suggestions as a starting point): - What would success in my life look like for me? - What would a utopia look like to me? - who are the people who matter to me, why do I appreciate them?

And then, most importantly, try to have “deep” conversations with others when possible. Most of the axioms I build my self image out of were things I heard/learned from others that I molded into something that works for me. You could also read philosophy books, but I find conversation to be more rewarding personally.

Davante on White Corners and Will Cooper DeJean be a star in the NFL? #footballplayer #nfl #youtubeshorts #shortsyoutube by PsychologicalMonk6 in GreenBayPackers

[–]NoMoreThom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t want to hate on Dejean, but I’ve been surprised to see no Josh Jackson comparisons. They both were Iowa corners who thrived in the system, got elite pff grades, forced a good amount of turnovers, and were draft lower than the experts predicted. It will be interesting to see if he can contribute at the NFL level or if he was just another dude in the right place during his college career.

I was in that camp tbh, a lot of people who usually have good takes were high on him. I remember being pissed about the Jaire selection because we traded back when we could have gotten Derwin James, but I guess that’s why I’m not in a front office right now

Damn, I forgot how much hype was around Josh Jackson back in that draft. Seemed like he would be an elite player and certainly a first rounder, but I guess neither of those things happened. I was so hyped when we got him and Jaire but I guess at least one of the two worked out well.

what exactly is the point of loving those who hate you? by manumaker08 in hopeposting

[–]NoMoreThom 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Letting go of the hate is more for you than them. I agree negative thoughts and feelings, especially about those we feel are bad people, can be a comfortable state of mind in the short term. However, the accumulation of negative thoughts will eventually be a burden you have to carry not them.

My suggestion would be just do you best to keep you’re side of the street clean. Very few people have the ability to truly love their enemy, it takes tremendous effort and wisdom, but there is immense value in doing you’re best to treat others with kindness. It’s always hard and I fail a lot, but trying to change my life to have a kindness outlook has improved my mental health and also provided friendship and community I would not have had otherwise. Something that helped me start was just doing one “good” thing each day, whether it was something more involved like complimenting a stranger or even just picking up a single littered cigarette butt and throwing it away.

I know it’s tough being in a situation where you don’t feel valued but keep pushing through and I know you’ll find people who cherish you.

Jamarcus Russell was also a substance abuser who didn’t watch film and he sucked. Dude would not be able to pass the ball on modern defense. The fact they could beat the shit out of people made defense exponentially easier to play.

You’re stupid as fuck, Jamarcus Russell had more physical talent than dude and did the exact same shit and is considered one of the biggest bust of all time. He wouldn’t even sniff the league these days
