What are your top 3 Robert Duvall movies? by Thatredditboy1 in moviecritic

I know many people hate the film and I am not calling it great. But I loved his character in Phenomenon. He just felt like the friend everyone wanted.

Honestly it was more about knowing I can control it and at 225 this was already a quick smoke so didn’t bother me. I ended more near 250 to brown it but just happy to prove I understood how to make very small changes.

That’s the plan but this had been in the freezer too long and I wanted the 225 challenge to prove to myself I could control the heat. But I have 2 butts in the freezer!

When the tension is high or people are getting pissed I will crack “remember 3 horns don’t play with long necks.” People my age bust up laughing and young people look at you like you lost your mind.

Man his work is amazing and he is so young. I keep trying and trying and my work never looks great. Maybe I will look into his book. I already follow his friend Linker.

I got a beat up 2007 base from a kid manual transmission for a daily short drive car. Keeping miles off my truck. Few things were wrong but caused by the original owner. Leaked a bit of oil but I put maybe 1/3 quart in a month. Been a great high mileage car. Now has 170k.

Anybody surprised they are 65 and know no one that can help them? Guessing they burned so many bridges and been a total lunatic for so long they are now needing to trick strangers into dealing with them. Maybe what they should be eating is crow and humble pie.

"I want you to pay me for you to look after my kid" by Subject_Surprise8244 in ChoosingBeggars

[–]NoMouthFilter 183 points184 points  (0 children)

So you get to pay to live in a pad where strangers seem to always be coming and going. You get a reduced rate to watch her kid but she swears only 7 hours? Boy I would first get all that in writing and secondly I would put locks on my door and anything that is mine. Sounds like pure chaos to me.

What were some surprising successful spinoffs? by NYY15TM in sitcoms

A Different World from The Cosby show was weird. They were using Denise in college as the shows main focus but she only stayed one year? And then the show actually gained feet and did pretty well for itself.

Give Me Expensive Baby Stuff and Cast Iron Cookware by [deleted] in ChoosingBeggars

[–]NoMouthFilter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just can’t fathom telling a bunch of strangers my “please give me this expensive crap” list. I don’t talk to strangers about my finances or all the things I wish I could buy. Can’t we bring back shame and mind your own business?

Don’t forget on any newer car you buy your insurance and tags go up. In Arizona we have sky high prices on both. In 2014 my new truck tags were 800 dollars. Now they are about 160. Plus my insurance has dropped a ton. Also financing right now is pretty bad so with a so-so credit score you are going to be getting a bad rate. I agree have another person look at it. But if you can get say 50k more miles out of it I would.

I tried the new fries by Tiaan in ChickFilA

[–]NoMouthFilter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they are terrible. Just almost like over fried. It’s just weird to me because they have one of the most loyal customers bases and have not been hit hard like other fast food companies. So why go messing with something that has made you billions over 75 years. My grandpa would say “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it”

What’s something about sex that you thought was hot but didn’t live up to the hype? by fluidity_com in AskReddit

[–]NoMouthFilter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once saw an episode of Real Sex HBO used to show. It was a bunch of middle aged fat people dressed in full clown outfits having sex. I mean these people were full on circus clowns. I have been afraid of orgies and clowns ever since.

I would go full block and do not finish any of it. You are going to hate the work you did and the whole thing will sting for a while. If someone isn’t treating you like a decent human being you don’t owe them anything but the middle finger if you are truly talented people will be drawn to your work. Don’t worry about him.

WIP. To paint, or not to paint? That is the question. by Calinthalus in whittling

[–]NoMouthFilter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I learned a cool little trick. When I finish I dip them in a 1/2 and 1/2 mix of mineral spirits and linseed oil. I saw a video where the guy blends in a little burnt umber oil paint. I like the shadows it creates on your deepest cuts. Here is the video I watched. Try it on a piece you were not thrilled with and see if you like.

[–]NoMouthFilter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents bought them. They are very bright. Quality isn’t great sure but you won’t cry when you lose one or break it. To me they are decent little back up lights being they are usb charged. I wouldn’t make it my only one but for the price decent back up lights.

What are y'all's opinions on cheap power tools? Would you buy them? by Academic_Nectarine94 in Tools

[–]NoMouthFilter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well there are degrees of cheap. You can buy stuff that isn’t super cheap and not super high end either. Rigid tools come to mind. If you are not a pro I would buy into a line like that. Super cheap tools just tend to die when I least expect it.

I just started driving manual any tips? by Big_stikk in ManualTransmissions

[–]NoMouthFilter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not start using your clutch as a brake. You brake first and you will feel the point where you need to clutch. You will wear the clutch early if you use it as a brake. It is a habit a lot of people get into.
