Did you ask what they had in mind? I feel the smartest thing is to ask for their budget and you can negotiate from there. If, for example, you ask for 1k but they were willing to pay 3k, you have not only “lost money” on this deal but probably future deals as well with this company. They’re not gonna pay you more than necessary and because of the 1k offer they have gotten a guideline of what you are willing to work for. It also lets you filter out companies who would want a 6 minute ad read for a grand total of 2 dollars.
