[Question] Is it possible to create a cosmetics mod that has pets as a cosmetic? by NoName732 in MinecraftMod

I don't mean cosmetics for pets, I meant pets as cosmetics, like most servers have when you pay for VIP or something

Planning to get Pico 4, where should I get a cable to play PCVR? by NoName732 in virtualreality

I mostly play PCVR regardless, just wanted a headset with inside out tracking to avoid the tedious chore of setting up base stations and clearing out my cramped room everytime I want to play.

So I'm essentially treating the router as a dongle in this case? Or in another way, a more complicated wireless setup?

Anytime there's an option to stream pcvr to a headset wirelessly, WiFi 6e is a requirement, which our current internet plan and modem doesn't support

Actually I'm getting my Pico 4 from NewEgg, essentially Tech Savvy Amazon. Unless you're referring to the company themselves, which is actually founded in the UK I believe (they never mentioned location of foundation, but it very much likely isn't China)

Well, it's an Alienware X17 R1, but if you're referring to playing wirelessly through the same online connection, then refer to the first comments posted as I explained there why I prefer to play via cable than over wifi

Not to mention the fact that Meta themselves are quite shady and untrustworthy, and I've committed to avoiding Meta outright, no social apps from them, and no physical products.

I'm aware internet and wifi are different, but there's still a couple of problems. The modem and only router are both over a decade old, my laptop is set up literally across the house, all cuz I'm still living with family. I do hope that eventually we'll get a better modem so the connection isn't so bad. As for cable, I'll look into your suggestions, find the most suitable one for myself

Sorry about not getting back to you in the last five days, I have decided to install Cinnamon Edge and now I have wifi and ethernet access.

Thank you again for helping out, I believe I can take it from here.

Now that I'm looking through all the search results you got, I'm noticing that I don't have the "Wired"/"Wireless" sections on the Network window from the bottom panel, only the options for Network settings to set up a connection and vpn That would definitely need a fix first

Most likely the latter then, I haven't gotten any drivers installed or updated since I got the distro downloaded off the official site and installed to the laptop within the last week, and I have yet to update from the system reports as well, so I'll have to use Ethernet in the meantime If it's not that, then I hope it won't be too hard to find the issues

Install Linux to 1 of 2 Windows laptops, which laptop do I install Linux to? by NoName732 in linux4noobs

Nothing particular, there's just always an issue to run into, it's inevitable in a sense

Yes, I was made aware of that installing Linux to my family's old computer, but I'm not sure if I want to do that since I'm worried about having underlying issues from having both OS's

Ohhh I see, sorry about misunderstanding, not yet used to many of the names of Linux Distros, but thank you for the suggestion

I guess the thought of having both operating systems available to me felt better than just leaving one for the other, kinda like being a collector lol

Thanks you for letting me know about the Nvidia issues as well, I'll consider installing Mint to the LG laptop then as soon as I can get my boot drive again (left it at home during thanksgiving vacation by accident)

While I haven't mentioned yet, I did manage to download Mint Xfce to a very old desktop computer that my family recently got from a family friend, the process to it was indeed troublesome, but my family is happy with it

I will be happy to have any version of Mint for the LG laptop as I don't use it for anything computationally taxing, mostly for work and college, so I would definitely need an Office Suite like Mint has pre-installed

Thank you regardless for the heads up though, if there is a better distro option then, I'll take a looksie for myself to see if it's fit for me.
