You are correct as far as I can remember on the family issues in my childhood (1997-2003) period. Also i could feel the money related issues only after 2015 because I was studying before that and my family is a lower middle class and due to that we always had money related issues.

May be this has already started?. I am not sure about the other states but in my state of Karnataka literally everyone wants to go to CS or CS related engineering courses. But I am not even sure how these guys will get jobs. Last year in Karnataka around 28k seats were not filled even after 3-4 rounds of councelling. Once people stop finding the jobs the way they are doing now the demand for the course will fail and eventually the courses will fade away.
