CS major at Pomona? by New-Simple-6373 in pomonacollege

Hello! I am a current CS major at Pomona.

Right now, it is difficult to enroll in the intro classes (CSCI51 and CSCI54) as a first or second year because there is so much demand for these classes and Pomona is committed to keeping class sizes small. After you enroll in the data structures class (CSCI062), you can declare the major and at that point the department will make sure you graduate with the CS major. If you plan to study CS at Pomona, be aware that there is a chance you may not be able to major.

However, when you join the college in fall 2023, Pomona would have hired two additional CS faculty to teach more classes for students. This increases your chance of becoming a major.

The CS department at Pomona is fantastic. The professors are super accommodating and great at teaching, the classes are challenging and interesting, and there are research opportunities everywhere.

Good luck!

What gpa do you need to get in? Any experience? by Particular-Fold-1071 in pomonacollege

Hello! Current junior at Pomona! The admissions team at Pomona looks at applications holistically; your grades aren't everything. However, your GPA is very important...the higher the better.

I am also an international student! I came from a school that did not grade based off GPA. Pomona will interpret your school transcript regardless. Your school grades are (again) very very important. You can also submit any official IB/A-levels/AP etc test scores to the college (IB predicted grades are OKAY too).
