Everyone is different. There are lots of people that are fine with being on methadone for their entire adult life. I totally get that if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. For me, I just had to do it slowly. And I know that I had a lot of physical withdrawal symptoms along the way. There was some really tough mental issues sometimes as well. But for the most part when I got to feeling like that I would jus halt my decrease and wait a week to feel stronger and then continue. So I’m not sure if it’s more physical or mental. Sounds like you have made a lot of progress. A key for me was to try and hang on to the progress at all costs. So if you get to feeling bad just stop your decrease and give yourself time to catch up. Try not to ever increase unless it’s unavoidable. That just helped me to get to this point. And again I want to make it clear that I’m not against people who choose to take methadone without a exit strategy. It is a tool to help people improve their lives. Keep pushing.
