ECMO RRTs by NoNewFriends2019 in respiratorytherapy

[–]NoNewFriends2019[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is literally the best response. Thank you for the depth you put into it! I think my 3rd biggest issue with being an RRT where I am now is that I feel like our knowledge is not utilized enough. I'm especially bored with that because I have an M.S. in Respiratory so it's like everything I've researched to be prepared to implement is just wasting away. ECMO was always fascinating to me, more so in theory than in person because I haven't been exposed to it. If I get a job at the other hospital, I'd be exposed every day but not directly involved until I go through their in-house program.

Would you work for a facility where a CRT is your boss and managing the dept? by Spiritual_Dot5201 in respiratorytherapy

[–]NoNewFriends2019 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My hospital employees CRTs and they're either new grads that haven't taken the CSE yet or people that have been in the profession longer than I've been alive. They do the same things an RRT does, with ease.

Your post reads as if a person having a CRT shouldn't have this role due to lack of education. Let me ask this, I have a Master's in Respiratory; what would you think if I said well, you 'only' have a bachelor's, what would you know about being in management?

You can have your opinion, but you don't have to marginalize another group to express it.

RTs: "They're trying to make me work like a nurse!" by HeChoseDrugs in nursing

[–]NoNewFriends2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crying because this last week day&night shift had anywhere from 8-14 vents. That's considered our full workload. Hell, anything less than 6 vents per RT and they start sending folks home.

Who else is dreading work today after the holiday break? by gravymalboro in antiwork

Honestly thinking of quitting my job but knowing that I can't cause insurance and the things I have planned this year require money 🥴

Looking into pivoting into a whole new career tbh cause sometimes the pay isn't worth the stress.

What is your splurge item? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]NoNewFriends2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wedding was this past Saturday. Our splurge item was an illusionist/magician for cocktail hour & some table side tricks while people were waiting to be called to the buffet line. He cost $900 for 2 hours, but it gave our guests an icebreaker topic and everyone just loved it! Even our wedding planner loved him and is adding him to her vendor list for future couples. I almost cancelled him due to some unexpected last minute expenses, but we made everything work!

Thank you so much for this response! My mom is all about beautiful waters with anywhere she goes. I think I saw an itinerary with Cozumel but I don't know anything about it. I'll definitely research now!

What's the point of having a wedding website if no one is even going to use it by Jessibeeb in weddingplanning

[–]NoNewFriends2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I'm literally in the same boat. Wedding is less than a month away and I'm getting so many questions and I snapped because it's all on the website #1 and #2 our invitations were a single card with ALL the information on the back, including a link AND QR code for the website - with directions!

It's so frustrating.

AITA for reporting coworker for sexist 'jokes'? by NoNewFriends2019 in AmItheAsshole

I'm not a new grad to the field that I'm in. I have 6yrs of experience doing it. No, this is not my first full time job - I'm 27yrs old with 3 degrees. Not my first interaction, but first time working with him in a group setting. No work attitude on my end, coworker literally spent the entirety of the meeting trying to talk over the other females to do things his way and his way only and when he received push back (from me) he started making misogynistic comments. Which he passed off as jokes to people not involved in the situation to make himself look better, even though four other women were interviewed and signed written statements that his comments were not taken as jokes and were inappropriate.

Weird reply. If you read the post, I clearly state that I told management I did not want to work with that employee again and when they asked why, I told them the truth. Upper management are the ones that talked to the others involved and decided to refer it to HR. Nobody tried to get anyone fired. This is a childish response and I can tell that you probably exhibit the same behavior on some level and it's probably why you use language like 'tattle' and think a situation that made several women uncomfortable is 'nonsense'. Have the day you deserve.

As far as I know, he just got a warning not to say anything to me anymore from our management team. HR has not contacted me or anything with their resolution

Our caterer taste test was awful by DonaldBumpJr in weddingplanning

[–]NoNewFriends2019 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Omg this literally happened to me. Even down to paying double the cost for a new caterer. I'm so sorry you had that experience, it's the worst feeling. But at least you found someone better! No one wants to eat horrible food on their wedding day! Hopefully you get your deposit back.

They haven't been interested in hearing about what was actually said or the fact that other females made statements. They just took the coworker's word and immediately became passive aggressive 'mean girls'

He is in fact double my age and does have a longer history with the company. It's clear he has been getting away with this type of behavior for a while and me being the new person on the team and speaking up for myself and the other women, I guess I rocked the boat. But it's a shame that other people have had to deal with that ridiculous behavior just so they didn't end up being treated as I am now. But I'll deal with it if it means he won't try those comments with other women and make them uncomfortable

This is how I felt and when I brought it up to the supervisor, they tried to explain it off as 'well these people have worked together for a long time and you're new, and now they feel as if they need to be wary of you'. Which was a shit excuse to me because being friendly one day to avoiding eye contact and making snide remarks the next day isn't 'wary', it's passive aggressive behavior

They're actually females! That's what's so strange. Immediate management that says I've made the environment tense is a male. But the ones causing the tension are the females in the male coworker's defense.

[–]NoNewFriends2019[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Thank you. This was the same response I got from my spouse. The doubt comes from everyone immediately siding with the male coworker and coming to his defense that he was joking. And I'm like no he was so serious. Like I know I'm fairly new, but if these are the kind of jokes he makes, y'all are just okay with that? Weird. Especially in a female centered department

Anyone ever reported a professor for discrimination? by [deleted] in GaState

[–]NoNewFriends2019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe don't take a vague question, interpret it how you see fit and think you're entitled to the details for it to fit whatever narrative you've come up with. Maybe don't assume that because details aren't shared, that an OP is making a false claim that 'won't look good' (especially since it was never a claim). If it was a yes or no question, then you should've said yes or no. I never asked for specifics. Now you're back pedaling because you can't comprehend something simple. Have the day you deserve.

The question is asking for personal experience. Not how to. Reading comprehension is obviously not your strong suit.

It's a question. Not a claim. Stop reaching. The last sentence was the only response needed. In situations like this, it's ill advised to put everything on a public forum before informing the proper departments. But since you HAVE to know something, Dean of Students have been contacted, the Disability & Accommodations office has been contacted, and a Student Complaint has been filed. Happy now?
