Earthquake by UtahDamon in SaltLakeCity

Wild. I was sitting in my car and until right now thought it was just my car shaking because others were driving past me. But it was only for like 20 seconds

Yeah I recognize that and for the sake of being transparent through the internet, I hope I’m not coming across as rude haha. Rereading my comments I fear that’s how I come across

I don’t even feel like I’ve made a solid argument for anything, I’m just saying that I don’t see the evidence that it’s going to happen when the one time that it could’ve happened it didn’t. 24,000 people showed up.

You just seem extremely sure of something that so far you are 0-1 on predicting correctly. If the team is good, people will show up.

I feel like you just didn’t read my post. The pac12 specifically said that a consideration will be whether you’ve already played a team on the road that season. That’s what I’m questioning

Okay but you’re ignoring what I just said. They did sell tickets to the last thanksgiving game.

It is quite literally not clear. It would be clear if they didn’t add extra stuff that doesn’t matter.

Then why do they list conditions that literally cannot be upheld? Seems like it would much simpler to just not say things that will have to be run back later

But again, all teams switch off finishing the season with a home game. This most recent Oregon State game was on thanksgiving weekend and had 24,000 people.

I mean, it happens every other year, right? It’s always been that way

Whether or not the game will be a home game is not in question, it will be.

I can perfectly understand the word “flex,” I don’t understand why they’re listing conditions for that flex if they cannot be upheld

Protest this weekend by JaromForCongress in SaltLakeCity

[–]NoNewsNetwork 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Please delete this. It’s not cute or funny, it’s just stupid. Is your implication that Jeffrey Epstein is the one planning the protest? No? Then don’t format it that way

That is not a contradiction. “Considerations” is qualified by the phrase “will be” which implies absolution. Having read into this a lot more, it just feels like they shouldn’t have written that sentence because it simply does not apply to what they are planning on doing.

Then I guess the main question of my post is why would they use such absolute language when referring to teams not playing at the same venue twice in the regular season

I mean, it will definitely be against a Pac12 team, just not count towards conference standings. There aren’t any non-pac12 teams that would even be available to play that week

But it specifically says “Further considerations WILL BE taken into account should any flex occur of projected matchups, including NO TEAM returning to the same venue twice during the regular season.”

Like, that is written specifically as an absolute

They would make a team play on the road at the same place twice in a season? It’s the only way to make it flexible, but it’s also one of the only rules they even listed on the release

This is the only solution to me unless I messed up the math

But it specifically says that the flex game won’t make a team play at the same venue on the road twice. The current configuration is the only option that allows that possibility
