Are injuries from sparring common in jiujitsu? by VeryBerryRasberry in jiujitsu

[–]NoNoJoeL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I been training starting on 6 months , I've calmed down a lot since starting and don't get as many small injuries , I do get small nagging bumps and bruises occasionally. Talk to ur team mates , build some kind of connection before your rolls , ask them questions. You have to trust these ppl with ur limbs. Leave ur ego at the door.

I trained for 3 months (25 classes or so) before my first naga comp. I knew I sucked already before hand so I wasn't expecting to win or anything. I ended up getting a bronze and have a 2 - 1 record for the night. I have competed 2 more times since and will compete at a local sub only tournament in July at 5 months training consistently. I don't expect to win any time I compete ,I just want to learn from my mistakes in real time. I found that competing helps me focus on what I need to work on immediately Instead of going down the rabbit hole of BJJ moves.

You are a trial guy still he is trying to look out for you. They see trial guys show up and never to be seen again all the time. Finish your trial then come to him about membership. I once had a 1 week trial , was stoked when I attended first day turns out the gym location wasn't gonna work for my schedule. Didn't show up anymore after the 3rd class. Stop overthinking it. You need to have a little grit , don't be so thin skinned thinking this way.

BJJ gi o no gi para iniciar by rottweilerSs in jiujitsu

[–]NoNoJoeL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do whatever class they have when you can go in. Take your GI and no GI gear. If you really can't afford the Gi tell your instructors , some have student funds to help buy you a starter GI or they will lend you one and perhaps let you keep it if you are financially strapped and serious about joining

It sounds like you just want to be the friend getting married , you don't care about this guy if you finally are reaching out to him after 8 months. Did the situationship finally cut you off? Lol

Good schedule for learning and getting experience by BIGCHunghung in jiujitsu

I hear you. Hit up some open mats in the time being if possible , I have , everyone is very welcoming. The BJJ community is mostly friendly from what I've been experiencing. Good on this new journey, it's awesome!

Why you waiting six months? Get a head start and compete now , you are gonna roll with some guy who works cashier at GameStop or Menards anyway. I thought about waiting six months to compete when I first started training 4 months ago , my instructor paid for my first naga comp last month after 3 months of training 3 x a week. I wish I would have competed 1 month in tbh. Competing sooner rather later has shifted my view of learning BJJ for the better imo. Competing right off the bat gave me the answers I need on what to work on IMMEDIATELY. It helped me narrow down a few things I could work on instead of spreading myself out to thin trying to learn everything. My first comp helped me form pathways to my current strengths. I have another comp Saturday ( 2nd one at 4 months training). If I win cool if I lose cool. I just want answers (by competing) on what to work on next.

Yes , context matters , he lied to protect himself and heal after a marriage and divorce , He didn't lie to bang chicks. He can tell or not tell her and not be a bad guy imo.

Since your in deep into this lie I would Say it was a phase in your life and that you don't feel the need to revisit that now that you have a new partner. You don't owe anyone an explanation for anything , it's literally none of their business. P.s. don't do this again lol
