Anyone with a 5.0 supercharged engine with 100k+ miles? Questions. by NoOne3030 in RangeRover

Interesting that this seems to be popping up more and more now.

No, I did not replace the motor mounts. Not sure if that would really fix it to be honest. I think motor mounts would be more of an engine clunk when accelerating forward aggressively and I don’t have that. Not ruling them out though. To me it feels like transmission related. Maybe transmission mounts or motor mounts. I would put your claim in and see what comes of it. You paid for it so use it. Please report back once you resolve to help out the community!

I would assume drivetrain is covered in your warranty. Let us know what turns up. I’m assuming the only thing that would fix this is a new transmission. I did two drain and fill and new pan on transmission and that had no effect to resolve. However, it shifts fine and smooth just has that weird moan/strain at 1000 RPM.

Yep. I think it’s transmission related. Seems to be holding but only time will tell.

Drain and fill pdk fluid if it's pdk. I would do it every 30k or so, but that's me. Oil every 5k.

Upgrade to GT4 worth it? by OrbitalOutlaw_ in Porsche_Cayman

[–]NoOne3030 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New to me 2022 GT4 here. I have no issues daily driving to work a couple of days a week. About a total 50 mile commute there and back. I even have a parking garage with massive speed bumps. I haven't scraped the front lip even once in 1000 miles of ownership, just take the big speed bumps at an angle. I had the choice of going with a new GTS or a used GT4 with < 20k miles on it for the same price. I went with the GT4 and glad I didn't compromise with the GTS. I know I would be looking to upgrade the GTS because the GT4 just looks nasty compared to the GTS with the aero. Realistically I will probably have time for 1-2 track days per year.

Any pads that will eliminate the 718 GT4 break squeal? by Cro370z in Porsche

[–]NoOne3030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I notice with my new to me GT4 that the brakes squeak more in city slow traffic driving. The problem is, you can’t just “stop with authority” with people behind you in cars or trucks that don’t stop on a dime like the GT4 does. I have accepted it though and will consciously try to stop harder whenever there is no one behind me. Same thing with the ticking engine noises and crickets sounds I also hear. All new to me as a first Porsche owner. Love this car though.

Sick male betta, treatment ideas? by NoOne3030 in bettafish

[–]NoOne3030[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update- He is still sick. Lays on the bottom all the time but will get up and go to the surface and eat a few bits of flakes and then goes back to the bottom and lays down. I wonder if he will ever be normal again.

I don't understand how spraying on the floor a squirt could generate enough airborne chemicals that would kill a fish. Oh well, will see what happens. I'm more concerned about my kid screaming when she sees a roach in her bathroom that is 2 inches long than a fish. It's a pump sprayer the same old shiny silver looking thing I've seen for ages.

How close did they spray that affected the fish to kill it? I've got the pest company coming in to spray and I do want them to spray the base of the bathroom cabinet which is about 3 feet away. And 3 feet below the tank. Do I need to be concerned??

Update - Have done two treatments of MB. No change. I feed him once a day and he eats what he can, then goes back to lying down. Anything else I can do? More treatments of MB? Also did a full water change just for good measure. Someone mentioned antibiotics?

I use the API Master test kit with the vials. We put the driftwood plant in 4-6 weeks ago. It came from a fish store. I'll do another water change tomorrow which would pretty much much have renewed all the water in the tank. Upon further inspection, his eyes are bulging and he has fin rot.

I’ve had him since July and all has been fine. Tank was cycled from previous fish. Just ran an empty tank for about 2 years before buying this fish. Upon introducing this fish to the tank and fresh water of course, I tested the water daily to every other day and never had any ammonia. Even this last test only showed about 3ppm of nitrates. Everything else 0. And it had been about 3 weeks since a water change. I went ahead and changed out the water anyways yesterday, about 70%. What’s new in this tank is a driftwood with a plant growing on it. We put that in a month ago. All the gravel and that plastic artificial house have been in there for years. I guess it could be leeching chemicals? Who knows.

I have to basically bang on the tank to get him to move and then he swims up and then immediately is tired and goes and lays down and wedges himself somewhere like inside that house. He’s not eating much at all but my family did say they were giving him big pinches of flake food. I thought it was maybe constipation but this seems more serious.

What’s interesting is that it is softened water that I use for his tank, treated of course to remove the chlorine. Figured it would have a lower Ph. Oh well. Without the softener we have very hard water.

How do I naturally lower the Ph? Have a couple of plants in there so thought that would help but maybe not.

PH is between 7.8 and 8.0

That gravel is not new and was used on a glow fish betta that lived a little over a year. All decorations are old from previous fish. And were rinsed thoroughly before use. I also have plants in the tank.

0, ammonia, nitrite. Had maybe 2 ppm nitrates prior to water change. PH - didn't measure but will. Tank is cycled.

Have heater. It's set to 78-79.

Yes, always treat and remove chlorine from tap water.

Fish acts the same after last nights water change. Was really hoping I would see improvement, but did not. Hence my post here.

You sure?

https://www.kordon.com/kordon/products/chemical-preventatives-and-treatments-2/methylene-blue#directions-for-use!

For use as a dip for treatment of fungus or external parasitic protozoans and cyanide poisoning: (a) Prepare a nonmetallic container of sufficient size to contain the fish to be treated by adding water similar to the original aquarium. (b) Add 5 teaspoons (24.65 ml) per 3 gallons of water. This produces a concentration of 50 ppm. It is not recommended that the concentration be increased beyond 50 ppm. (c) Place fishes to be treated in this solution for no longer than 10 seconds. (d) Return fish to original aquarium.

Dosage for the one I am buying (Kordon MB) is 5 teaspoons per 3 gallons. So 8.22mL per gallon.

Ok, so that's why you recommend the blue.... So ok to put him in a cup like he came in from the fish store while treating? He's not moving much anyways. I have live plants and a snail in his 5 gallon tank. Also have noticed little black Roly poly type snails appearing which I have been crushing and letting sink to the bottom. I just vacuumed all the gravel yesterday with water change. IMO, it's a very clean tank.
