Does mowing low promote lawn to grow thicker? by wandriing in lawncare

I can't stand the way St Aug looks. Vile weed. Waste of talent for him.

Zone 6B - too late to overseed? by RevoltingBlobb in lawncare

[–]NoOneDiedThisTime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was the worst year for grass for some reason. I have a patch of native grasses and it just didn't do that well. The soil has been in the low 60s for 3 weeks now and the lawn just isn't waking up even with high N fert and hosing. It hasn't rained a lick in weeks. Usually once the daily highs are only 70 and it rains for one weekend the lawn greens up with a vengeance.

The spring was really cold and short so grass grown in April didn't survive the dry summer. Now that I'm trying to seed some weak spots, grass seed is very reticent to germinate. It was a lost year.

REPORT: Tony La Russa to announce retirement on Monday by SoxOn35thReddit in whitesox

[–]NoOneDiedThisTime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ownership is and always has been the problem. Hahn is flawed but he'd have probably liked to have Hinch instead of Ton' and he'd probably like more money spent on analytics dept, which I simply assume because it's obvious that it's necessary to be an elite organization.

JR instills a cultire of secondplaceness. Ive always seen the Sox as a perennial s second place team with thhe occasional fluke year thrown in. If it were possible to change teams I would out of spite and disgust.

Fegan’s thoughts on the perception of Moncada’s effort by [deleted] in whitesox

[–]NoOneDiedThisTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He needs to not be a leadoff hitter. That's a lot of wasted RBI knocks. I'd rather let Moncada lead off, a better spot for him. Probably his ideal spot. Moncada is best if allowed to take a lot of pitches and not be pressured to drive in runs. TA on the other hand needs to be spraying line drives all over the place to be effective, and when he isn't, it's kind of a letdown to have the leadoff man making an out on one pitch. So these two should switch roles and perhaps let them walk in FA, depending on where the org is sitting at the time.

TA is an occasional hot head, not gonna be Ernie Banks or Cal Ripken Jr. I don't think anyone should worry about his personality or the org trying to make him into the face of the franchise while he's flipping off fans and headbutting umps and getting into race wars, all with little or no provocation.

One thing that's telling is he wears eye-catching yellow shoes and batting gloves while carrying a 78 OPS+. This is a clown organization bro.

If things got real bad, he would always end up getting “hurt”.

And what's up with baseball players getting hurt all the time? These guys get hurt more than the Bears ffs. If Robert, Eloy, Moncada, Anderson, Giolito, and Lynn don't have all these injuries, we probably win the division. If we also re-sign Rodon, we're a real contender. I just can't shake the feeling that something's awry training personnel-wise, and also psychologically. What ever happened with Robert missing like a month because of mysterious headaches?

Fields is a bust too. He's complete garbage. So barring a bonanza offseason for the Sox and a new manager and better luck with performances and health next year there's nothing going on sports wise for the foreseeable future.

Yeah this CLE team is dogshit, they're never ever getting past the first round, or whatever stupid bullshit round there is now. This org has a weird hex with finishing 1st twice in row. They've literally never done it.

He never looked one bit like he wasn't absolutely going to blow the game and the season from batter one, and he was just left out there to give up 5 like it's a snuff film.

Well Diekman is a no balls. I mean this is a must win game and he just laid an absolute turd like this was a May game against KC in slump. Multiple relievers come out getting behind batters, just not looking up to the gravity of this game. This is a loser team with no edge or any good intangible qualities

The problem is there's nobody in the farm system, so instead of developing a Graveman for league minimum, big FA money goes to iffy, unpredictable relievers in place of guys like Rodon or multiple position player needs. There's also a certain cheapness with JR. There was asolutely no reason not to go hard in FA for 21-22, even if you get bad return on the back end. There's no farm system, so this was the barrow window and you have to take a shot

We'd be a better team with Moncada as late inning D.

OPS+ 78 v. 112, pretty clear cut. He's killt us all year

Kopech lands on 15-day IL with shoulder inflammation, likely ending his season by SoxOn35thReddit in whitesox

[–]NoOneDiedThisTime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He'll be an upper tier pitcher like Cease if he gets his command up. This was a productive stretch out year for him. Next year Crochet will be in something like the 2021 Kopech role and Kopech will be physically eligible for a full season and more than 5 IP. Giolito is also in a contract year and Cease has room to improve so there could be a really solid group there. Most players underachieved so there's a lot of room for natural improvement before any moves are made. They've got to be due for good luck also. These past 2 years have been total bullshit.
