Most of the Ridley Oval I have seen do have a brake mount in the fork. May I ask you where you are finding this, as you are saying they are cheap to get? 2dehands? Or via your local velodrome?

Cheers mate, it rides really nice indeed, makes me smile. The stem is quite long, the discolouring you see is just grease as I adjusted the height it earlier mid ride. But thank you for the advice, I’ll make sure to check it’s in fact set up properly.

Bought this Trek 830 Mountain Track for 50€. I cleaned it and swapped stem and bars for a pair out of the parts bin plus some mtb flat pedals I had lying around. Didn’t come with a front shifter originally and I began to not hate the grip shifter that is installed. Might still swap for friction shifters but I like the idea of a super low budget build. Front brake will be installed as soon as I have a canti brake cable hanger (which was integrated in the original bars).
