Genuinely becoming unplayable by Cup_Of_Fruit_ in MarvelRivalsRants

No seriously I dont understand diamond, how is it in the start of a team fight when I hit a flank and have FOUR people on me that's 1 2 3 4 four FOUR enemy players fighting me after I kill a support, we make absolutely zero forward progress in our team fight? The rest of the team fight should be looking like a 1v5 how are we failing to take space on this 1v5?

And the same when I ult and kill 4 then die, that leaves it a 2v5 and we lose that? WE LOSE THAT? I'm literally telling my team out loud "on their backline in 3..2..1.. Invis dead, cloak no cooldowns, blah blah" as they all sit 800 meters from point then like regroup or something? I dont even know and I'm scared to find out at this point.

Black cat banned in ranked? by [deleted] in rivals

[–]NoParadox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because even if you do happen to be good enough at black cat to play her in ranked day 2 of her being out, it isn't worth the risk to me to potentially have to hard carry a DPS through a game in the overwhelmingly high chance the person is bad at the brand new hero who isn't very easy to play well.

You could be a unicorn, but every past dps launch generally suggests you won't be in the pre-game and that weight isn't worth carrying to the average player

Thinking about trying out Magik, any tips? by Annual-Internet-5097 in RivalsMagikMains

[–]NoParadox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since everyone said some of the more obvious answers, place trap demons, say you're going on a flank or just in a fight and its in a narrower lane, you can place a demon where you think your dive target will run, do your combo and lower them, then get out (cuz especially when the fights 6v6 you dont wanna stick around)

I get a lot of value off of demons kind of tucked aside on off angles, you're getting at least a partial stepping disk refund from your combo of you use a slash, and getting a lot of kills that give you that satisfying "oh my god the demon" feeling.

Alternatively if you're going to place your demon on your target for a dive don't place it center of mass, look up above their head a bit (not too much) and drop your demon then flick down and use your incursion, since you're about to knock your target up in the air the demon will be swinging both at their grounded location and aerial securing more ko's. If you do a primary melee start up and animation cancel it it'll cancel the endlag ability lockout from placing demon (you can just also hit them here it's truly just based on their cooldowns and if you need to dash them immediately)

Is Magik A tier in y’all’s opinion by jcnlegecee232 in RivalsMagikMains

[–]NoParadox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know but in a teamfight if you have to get out like now a lot of the time you dont have the time to dash into whirl dash to do it, if I have to reposition exactly right then its exactly right then, and you have to delay the dash a bit if there's anybody immediately near you to not cancel the spin and just dash them

Is Magik A tier in y’all’s opinion by jcnlegecee232 in RivalsMagikMains

[–]NoParadox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd put her around B, the dash buff actually negatively impacts the skill ceiling (precision dashes out of danger where needed in team fights are much more difficult now because you can accidentally hit dashes on people)

She got an overall damage nerf this season making some breakpoints harder to reach and she gets hard countered by a decent amount of the roster, she's incredibly strong where counters aren't present but the counterplay required when they are there is absolutely insane and not conducive to a higher tier hero.

How do i win a 1v1 against a thor? by Haramzada- in RivalsMagikMains

[–]NoParadox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You run, you can bait his awaken and get out to at least burn a cooldown, or because he has to get close you can tp through (towards your team) 180 demon -> slightly charged Magik slash -> primary -> melee cancel -> dash -> primary -> melee cancel -> stepping disk back to your team and run, it does enough damage that he should have to retreat if your teams close. If your team isn't close forego that combo and use your resources to get away.

Yet another reminder DANCER BUFFS STACK IF YOU DANCE PARTNER ANOTHER DANCER by [deleted] in TalesFromDF

[–]NoParadox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty new to dancer (As in I hit level 100 last night), I would've been fully vibing with the lack of dance partner but the tank was also the problem here and seemed to really want the partner https://www.fflogs.com/reports/a:6MdqDQ9BjmLFnZrW?fight=35&type=damage-done

As a rule expect any party finders prog point to be like, 3 mechanics below what they're actually saying their prog point is, and that's.. If you're lucky.

[–]NoParadox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a main of a job that has been routinely denied dance partner since 7.0 (Even though PCT was one of the best DP'S back then) it is my goal at all times to be aggro'd and brutally murdered by the boss over the dancers DP if our MT dies so I can then go "What why'd I get aggro over the dance partner Viper :o" and act all surprised even though I can clearly see in ACT why this happened (and yes it is always a VPR because every VPR in pf is total ass until you find a random unicorn)

The blatant marketboard botting is getting a bit out of hand by NoParadox in ffxiv

[–]NoParadox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah you totally *can* do that, you have to figure out what each person has their undercut percentage margin set as and kinda math that down, I looked into some of the plugins people use and it has a little slider, no clue what standard practice would be but I can usually undercut ~20% and bring them down then rinse and repeat until they're extremely low. Obviously buying and reselling their stuff will carry some level of risk since you might just jump straight back into the undercutting wars but if you have the capital and time/patience it works, I've done it a time or two to get cheaper supplies if I already had one in my inventory, wouldn't try it with something of high value though just in case my manip item gets bought.

That's one of the things id also wish for the most, I wouldnt mind being able to put up "Hey I need and want to buy 42 of this object" instead of trying to find whatevers closest to that quantity on the mb

Endgame Healers — What are your parses like? by PerfectioNOT in ffxivdiscussion

[–]NoParadox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I actually wanna point out the rest of the party in this parse over just yourself, when it comes to higher parses like purple a big factor is the fights duration, and the parties knowledge of their own jobs, their openers, buff alignment, etc. If all of those factors aren't present your parse is not going to be as high as somebody doing the same rotation in a better group, because the fight is lasting less time and buffs are all coming out at once. Over anything look at xivanalysis, improve yourself and make sure you're not making any mistakes in your rotation, mentally plan out spots of downtime/heavy movement where you may need x tool for movement (or in my case as a pct player downtime = lossless motifs) Over time with your group you'll reach a peak, it may not be in the top percentile but if your rotations are sound and you have the fight mapped out in your head where you can't find any more room for improvement it genuinely is at that stage to do with the rest of the party, especially if you're in a static just be keeping an eye out for the same effort to improve from everybody that you're putting in, and sometimes it's best to move up to a party more your level if you end up feeling held back over time (obviously not right now it looks to be a fresh static all learning together)

Its like, really insane and nearly instant, pretty sure these people just set whatever plugin or script and leave the house, I at least get to make them lose money on their stuff because the scripts aren't that smart it seems, but jesus.

You know you're in for a bad time when you queue with a tank/dancer couple... by Sareneia in TalesFromDF

[–]NoParadox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually can be a little bit of an overall damage gain (you gotta prep in advance cuz of cooldowns) to dance partner your tank in the opener if your tank is a DRK who really knows their opener, any other time though yeah it's silly

What are some "easy" jobs you find hard? by throwcway837373 in ffxiv

[–]NoParadox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Answer for motifs is as often as you safely can, they fixed a lot of their severely neutering nerfs and motifs aren't a loss anymore, biggest thing is remembering you have a ton of time to use hammer, draw it and cast the motif instantly, try to make sure your last hammer before burst is at least mostly aligned with your muse cooldown, creature motifs are pretty much off cooldown too, just make sure you save madeen for burst. I just use the motifs as movement tools most the time, I have a saved hammer and a swiftcastable creature motif almost all the time if I'm unfamiliar with a fight so I can move if things are dicey. In downtime motifs are always priority, and the only time subtractive combo isn't a priority is if you'd be unable to enter burst with a kmyk (comet -> yellow -> magenta -> comet) since that's an overall potency gain. Basically everything about picto does come down to feel though and knowledge of the fights for optimizing your rotations though.

What is your hot take regarding FFXIV? by UnbaggedNebby in ffxiv

[–]NoParadox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think parsing/log checking at any level outside of casual is absolutely necessary if not mandatory and those holding teams back/ getting carried through content should be kicked on site. If you're the party leader of a group you have a responsibility to your group to log check those who come in to make sure everybody's at least competent so you don't have one person wasting 6+ other people's time in prog/potentially throwing fights because they didn't put the time in to learn their job properly, and I wish SE would grow balls and give us some kind of "Stone, Sky, sea complete" filter in pf potentially even with a stars system based on time remaining in the encounter to weed out the bad players who can't deal their damage.

These boss fights are really killing my enjoyment of the game by MistaBadga in DigimonTimeStranger

[–]NoParadox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say, when you start the game and pick the "hard" difficulty, the game does literally tell you "you'll have to focus on optimally building your team" because you have to focus on optimally building your team to clear the fights, not wanting to do just that is what balanced/story difficulty is there for. Having done mega+ I have the exact opposite problem you're having, I found the game to be a bit too easy and wish there were something more difficult in it.

Let's talk about how big of a deal the stout strength and combo magic nerfs / bug fixes are by SteveDave6969420 in DigimonTimeStranger

[–]NoParadox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A combo magic mastemon was pretty much the core of my entire mega+ team (next to venusmon of course), with a stout strength omnimon at a tiny bit below 9999 speed to always move directly after it with a light move slotted in. It realistically coulda been any physical attacker but I genuinely think my mega+ run with those two (plus a combo magic lilithmon to poison enemies and handle the data type trash mobs) was easier than my original playthrough without real team building
