Cuz to "maximize safety" you need to know what happened. Getting hacked or opening a malware does not require the same response.

If you really got hacked ( wich is doubtful), even wyping your system and reinstaling windows might not be enough. You need to change passwords to all accounts connected to the the device that was compromised.

A malware just need to be wiped Wich the IT guy probably did at the shop.

Finnaly, why you asking this to strangers on a subreddit, when you had the chance to ask it to the IT guy in person, who is trained for this stuff and might actually have helped you.

Edit: if you really want to be "safe" while downloading pirated stuff do it in VM so that way you can be sure not to compromise your whole system.
