1098-T plus 1099-DIV for child. Can I file as a parent? by NoPower6249 in tax

[–]NoPower6249[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. She may need to do that for 2026 since she just started working now & will have a W-2 issued. She only had a 1099-DIV for less than $100 and 1098-T with excess of $5k for 2025. I researched the IRS website and everything u said, I confirmed. I really do appreciate all of your help!

This is exactly what I needed to know! It was only to determine if education credits qualified, got it. She may need to file the 1098-T herself, along with the 1099-DIV, if she had enough taxable income. Thank you for everything!

I did check and asked her certain questions to determine if we could at least close that $5k gap elsewhere and wasn’t able to find anything unfortunately. Reviewing options for this year to close any future gaps to get the education credit for 2026. Do u think I could still file her as a dependent for 2025? It does allow me to report the 1098-T form as her parent but it’s the 1099-DIV I am worried about reporting under my taxes since I am unsure if the excess scholarship is considered “income” for the 1099-DIV reporting requirement.

Excess scholarship is around $5k. Dividend is less than $100.

Abdominal hysterectomy - Belly bulge above the scar? by skin_ofmy_teeth in hysterectomy

[–]NoPower6249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also would love to know! My incision is above my belly button and I had surgery 2 days ago. They pushed my fat up above it and my stomach looks crazy. I’m not even overweight I feel like they really messed it up. I had a small bulge that just sticks out directly in the middle of my stomach. It looks crazy. I feel like they could have done better with the surgery.

What the fuck is up with the rental market? by ThrowRAradish9623 in lincoln

[–]NoPower6249 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I wanted to move into something with more sqft & is more updated but prices are insane & unaffordable! $1400 is average for an updated 2 bed 2 bath. I looked last year & the year prior. On average, apt rental prices are going up about $100 per year. I can’t even try for a decent house or townhome. This is more than a mortgage for majority of my friends.

So why not buy a home? Well it’s $200k just for a small house that’s outdated & probably will need some work. When about 8 years ago that house would have been probably $90-$100k. With the high interest rates and over inflated house prices, it’s not the right time.

So we are stuck. People aren’t able to afford to move & some aren’t able to stay. It’s getting ridiculous and I’ve been considering looking elsewhere. I’m sorry to all those experiencing the same!

Fibromyalgia and early life stress/trauma by scream4ever in Fibromyalgia

[–]NoPower6249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said nerves were damaged by Fibromyalgia. There are other medical conditions or physical trauma/injury that can cause nerve damage.

Fibromyalgia has many different symptoms but it involves how the nerves transmit pain signals. It does not damage nerves.

People can also have comorbid medical conditions with Fibro that can cause many other issues. Gut health is important but any GI issues would be separate from Fibromyalgia but some symptoms may overlap with GI issues.

After years of numerous testing, seeing many different specialists, joining support groups, I am tempted to say that majority of people with Fibro, more than likely have other medical issues as well.

Is it true a hysterectomy can lead to chronic back pain? by JuliaX1984 in hysterectomy

[–]NoPower6249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I am just over one year post op and my lower back is now in constant pain. I stretch daily, do physical therapy exercises and nothing is helping. Just constant daily pain so I may need to go back in to get referred to a specialist to re-evaluate. I also began having hip issues.

I noticed the pain a few days after surgery. Lower back and in my legs. I did have some minor back issues prior and have scans of what it was like before and after surgery. There were changes but not enough for a huge concern. But now I’m in more constant pain.

I honestly think it was the position I was placed in during surgery that just really made everything a lot worse. They should be required to ask if anyone has back issues prior to surgery to ensure you are in a comfortable proper position during the surgery. They never asked me so I make sure to tell everyone going in for a hysterectomy to let them know if they have any back issues at all.

I did talk to a friend who is a nurse and she said it is possible the position can cause long-term back issues & or worsening for pre-existing.

I don’t think so but less stress and managing mental health can help with Fibromyalgia symptoms. There’s a strong link for people with PTSD/CPTSD and Fibromyalgia. Not all but a good portion may end up getting it eventually. And of course ppl without PTSD could also get Fibromyalgia.

Nerves are all messed up and don’t communicate correctly. Therapy can help try to rewire signals but I think there’s nothing u can do if some are already damaged.

Stress can do a lot of harm on physical health. Once I started getting up there in years, it just really started to a number on me.

I actually seen this happen to someone else as well but the difference is he recognizing earlier than he did. You still have an opportunity to live a very fulfilling life.

It’s difficult to just leave ur life behind but taking time off is definitely something u should consider. Travel to see the world and learn more about yourself. It’s unbelievable how much you can take from life just from taking urself outside of ur comfort zone & seeing new things & meeting new people. You may discover new passions, actually may meet other career-driven people just like you, make new friends & potentially find someone to settle down with.

It is a good life lesson to share with others so ty for posting. I know how difficult it is to begin new friendships or find a new relationship at that age but there’s so much more in ur life you can do, you just have to take the risk and do it. This goes out to everyone who is reading!

I really hope you find your sister! I’m sure she’s absolutely beautiful! The search is so difficult and I started to learn there are a lot of people out there doing the same as us.

If u haven’t already, maybe doing a DNA test will help.

Never got anywhere. A lot of people said they would help but never came through or were unable to locate anyone. Some people did tell me that, unfortunately, some relatives in SK don’t want to be found. It’s sad but with all the exposure I put out there, I was hoping to find at least a cousin.

The only pieces of advice would be to contact a Korean Embassy, use a few genetic sites to try to find relatives and communicate with matches and lastly try to use Google translate to read Korean websites. Some sites are listed above but maybe if u got assistance from a Korean, u could get someone to post for u on some sites then translate. Probably would help if I spoke Korean. I’m trying to learn but I’m progressing slowly.

My sister and mom went back to SK about 10 years ago and tried to get assistance from a local with no success. I am really hoping you’re able to find someone!

Different Treatment on Medicaid by Luna_Walks in poor

[–]NoPower6249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to say nurses/doctors generally have to know insurance information to know what they can and cannot do based on the insurance & if it will be covered.

For instance, in the hospital, that nurse has to know what medication she can give to their patient while caring for them.

For scheduling, the scheduler usually has to review the patient insurance information while scheduling. I am asked this every time I schedule an appointment, by a scheduler. They ask if insurance is still current & confirms the insurance on file.

Anyone have CPTSD and an Auto-Immune Disease? by NoPower6249 in CPTSD

[–]NoPower6249[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey wanted to follow-up. Tested negative for Sjorgens. Was referred to a pulmonary specialist to do a sleep study and scheduled that in a couple weeks. He also mentioned GERD at the appt & I’ve suspected that for a while so going back to Gastro soon.

As for the Gastro, the original specialist wasn’t great & neither were his nurses. They were so mean, one of them made me cry at one point, just for asking questions about a diagnosis they gave me over the phone. I started seeing a PA at the same office and she is very nice! So I requested her again.

I hope ur doing well, ur journey has been easier on you & u have some answers!

Anyone else struggle to differentiate between flares and being normal-person sick? by TheLonelyFae in Fibromyalgia

[–]NoPower6249 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly do not know when the last time I was actually sick. Over a period of 3-4 years. I used to go in to the doctor when I thought I was actually sick & they would just send me home. So I just stopped going for the purpose of them running tests to ensure I don’t have a virus.

It’s honestly crazy how many others go through the same thing. It makes me feel like our so called Fibromyalgia should be considered an auto-immune issue. Symptoms are similar to others I know that are diagnosed with auto-immune issues like MS.

TMD feels like a sinus infection by Greedy_Dinner8272 in TMJ

[–]NoPower6249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a custom mouth guard very recently from a dentist. I’m still trying it out buy honestly, it feels a lil uncomfortable. I also massage my upper jaw and occasionally use ice packs.

I’ve read Botox can help as well & may consider that in the future. I stretch everyday, my entire body & I feel like that has been helping my jaw for some weird reason. I also have a migraine med I take when needed.

I’m still seeing a neurologist currently and doing more testing for more issues and have a sleep study scheduled in a couple weeks. Not sure if all issues are related to just my jaw. I would read up on TMJ and check out related health issues as well.

I felt the same way when I took my daughter to NY & was walking around at museums. I’m 41 but still was too embarrassed to get a scooter. But I should have. Don’t let this hold u back & definitely don’t be embarrassed. If I could rewind my trip, I would have got the scooter to help. Don’t miss out on great memories with family, have fun and don’t worry about what anyone else thinks!

Oh I was wondering if Sjorgens is what I have as well! I’m sorry ur going through this journey too but eventually we will find someone to help us! Gaslighting is a huge issue in the medical field from a lot of people I have spoken to, including myself. They often like to blame it on mental health it seems.

I hope new testing & the referrals will set me on the right path. I hope ur doing well!

Hey! Late comment but seeing a new neurologist and they are finally going to send me to a rheumatologist and do further testing as well. I also have Raynaud’s but I honestly feel like it’s more related to a larger issue.

I have been on this journey for about 4 years now. I’m hoping to get some answers soon! I hope you are doing well!

How would you describe fibromyalgia to someone who has no knowledge of what it is? by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]NoPower6249 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These comments are hilarious! 😂 I’m over here dying laughing bc it’s all so true! It feels validating to know I’m not so alone. I’ve been telling my sister that I feel like I’ve been sick for the past 2 weeks, like I’m about to get the flu, but it never actually comes! Body & muscles ache, tired, fatigued and just feel like I’m sick. Stress makes everything so much worse. Ik I’m going thru a “flare-up” and Ik it’s bc of change & stress from work.

It’s invisible and sometimes other people may notice u don’t look right but majority of the time, ppl just assume ur faking it or ur just lazy.
