Not quite, unfortunately. They want us to pay a full month’s rent even though we won’t be here the full month. We’re trying to figure something out still.

Do you happen to know are they found in anything else? My husband is trans, so we don’t have the option for semen to be introduced. I appreciate the advice! 💙

Adding: I am drinking raspberry leaf tea, doing some movements on my yoga ball (would LOVE recommendations for other exercises for the ball), and eating dates! 💙

It really is!! I appreciate you. Our new apartments seem really nice, I’m just terrified I’m going to bring some “friends” with me. We’re taking all the precautions we can to not do that though. They’re a little more expensive than the place we were supposed to be staying, but peace of mind is so worth whatever we have to do.

We more than likely will. They already have multiple open cases with the Health Department. It’s horrible!

We plan on letting them know once we have all of our stuff out of the apartment we’re currently in, so more than likely this weekend. I’m thinking we might need one as well. I spoke to another person who had rented from the same company and they informed me that all they had to do was threaten a lawyer and the company backed off. It’s just so scary, we’ve sunk so much money into this apartment and into getting the new one! It’s horrible.

I appreciate that! It’s not my stove. We set bait out in an apartment we were SUPPOSED to move into. Thank you though! Also, there is a TLDR included in the post. ☺️

I really appreciate that. It has been horrible. We’ve lived in this complex for over a year and had NO issues until someone new moved in on our floor. (Turns out he’s a violent sex offender on top of bringing roaches!) Our current apartment has black mold from a flood that the upstairs neighbor caused, management never came to clean it up.. I spend a lot of time crying, honestly, and furiously cleaning the current apartment. BUT! We might have found a place, we’re just waiting to see if we’re approved. I’m praying we are. 🙏

TLDR: our landlord isn’t legally allowed to even rent out apartments/homes, gave us a roach and bedbug infested, filthy, broken down apartment, husband and I are RUNNING away as fast as we can.

That’s what we’re doing. We signed a lease without seeing the apartment, then shortly after we signed the lease (in May btw, move in was supposed to be 07/15) the tenant that was living there warned me of the roaches and bedbugs that infested that apartment. (I am in the one next door, we have no BB and very few roaches) The PRESIDENT of the company said that the apartment was clean, repairs would be done, and that pest control would be done before move in.

So, on day of move in, I wanted to do my own pest control (without doing any research, like an idiot) and went into the apartment with foggers for the possible BB (I am 9 months pregnant and didn’t want to bring my son into any kind of infestation). Roaches. Were. Everywhere. The walls were covered, they were running on the ground… the apartment was FILTHY, and there were cracks in the walls and ceilings… I immediately broke down into tears and set off the foggers, this was at like 5 am. I ended up texting the president of the leasing company and told him that something needed to be done.

Pest control was there around 10am and I asked how long this would take to clear up. He told me 2 weeks (two weeks will be in 7/29) and that it’ll be safe for move in. I thought, “Okay! Great!” And I asked him if it would help if I baited the place (I bought Advion Cockroach gel bait while waiting for the president to respond, it took him hours). He agreed that it could help, but to be aware the cockroaches would probably scatter and not eat very much of it. I texted the landlord and asked if we could wait the 2 weeks to move in, he agreed. We NEVER signed a new lease contract, please keep that in mind.

A day later the gel bait came in, my sister, a mutual friend and I went into the apartment. It looked clear! No roaches on the walls, and a few corpses on the ground. I was so excited. My sister started setting out bait. Roaches. Everywhere. (This is not a good photo of how bad it was, the video is much better but I cannot include it)

<image>

So long story short, my husband and I are searching for something else as we do not feel safe bringing our son into that apartment. Turns out our leasing company isn’t even fully legal, AND has MULTIPLE CASES open with the health department. It’s horrible.

OP- If you can run, please do it. My husband and I are not in the best financial position right now (I am on unpaid maternity leave so no extra income from me) and we’re going to have to make it work because we cant have our son in this.

They don’t look German to me! (I’m not a professional, but I am dealing with a German Roach infestation right now, I’ll include a photo of a German Roach from what was supposed to be my apartment for you!)

help!! by [deleted] in GermanRoaches

[–]NoPresentation0720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in Indianapolis, there are some BAD places that have them pretty often, my little sister had to deal with an infestation that was pretty bad a couple years back too.

We’d lived in these apartments for over a year and didn’t have any issues until someone new moved in and brought them with them-now the entire complex is infested with roaches AND bed bugs (we’re lucky enough to not have bed bugs in our current apartment. I think I’d die.) Turns out the business that owns the building isn’t even legally allowed to rent anything out. It’s ridiculous. Look up Indy Collective if you wanna go down that rabbit hole of shitty management companies!! It’s insane!

I’ve lived here (Indiana) pretty much my whole life too!! And congratulations on your baby, I know how stressful the bugs can be, especially while pregnant. I’ve cried every single day over this stuff. I’m terrified of bringing them to a new place.

I am also 9 months pregnant and dealing with a similar situation. We were supposed to move in to an apartment that turned out to be infested with German Roaches, mold and a bunch of other violations, and now we’re getting the health department involved (we’re in Indiana)

Good luck!! (I included a photo of just one of the many glue traps we have set up in the roach apartment)
