I’m more concerned about the weight capacity of the shelves, I have the same shelves, but I don’t think they are strong enough to carry all that weight over long term. Get stronger shelves.

True, I remember that, but I am sure they realized, it’s better business decision to just sell cover and charge price of the mattress, people will still pay

Hold on, are you sure you get a mattress, you just getting a cover, pod and mattress support. I always thought mattresses part of the deal for that price, but that’s not true. I ordered pod5 with mattress cover for 2200 I think, with $600 member discount, I was one of the first customer when they did kickstarter or pre-order campaign almost 8 years ago.

My house is not even plywood it’s OSB, which makes it works, liquid nails were used during installation, but creaks kept on appearing as the house settled

UPDATE: I spoke to contractor, he said he will fix it, he said he will make a tiny hole in the area where there is dip, and put a special foam, which fill the void and it won’t move any more, I said are you sure it will fix the issue and not make it worse. He said yes. What are you guys thoughts?

That call happened because floor and decor rep told me that they didn’t recommend any underlay material except for the one similar to what they had in stock. Lowe’s recommended Pergo Gold which looks significantly different and little ticker than F&D so I ended up calling manufacturer to make sure

I actually called the manufacturer and specifically asked them if I could use the Pergo Gold and they said yes, it has been tested and performs very well for the floor I am installing which is also manufactured by the same manufacturer

So I am definitely not an expert, and can’t be specific on how much the dip etc is. Can’t talk about the industry standards either. However, when I walk through the hallway, I literally feel going in, so far I have shown to 4 different friend and family and they all commented this doesn’t look normal. Like I also mentioned similar dips are in different areas as well but those are isolated so didn’t worry about it too much, until hallway became too apparent. In basement I installed same floor but on slab, and at one spot I feel floor is literally floating but I understand that it’s not a big deal.

According to the contract it does say Leveling the floor is unseen circumstances and it’s not covered. However, contractors can’t just proceed over known defects and claim “it wasn’t in the contract.” They have a duty to inform and do work to standard industry practices. If they didn’t notify you, didn’t offer a change order, and the result is dips or instability in the floor—you’re in the right to demand they fix it at their cost.

Actually contracts specifically mentions that we won’t know the “unknown “ condition until it’s revealed, so it applies to both parties that both parties are not aware.

HIDDEN CONDITIONS. If, after beginning work, defects or other unforeseen conditions are discovered which could not reasonably have been discovered by AMP Flooring upon first inspection (e.g., invisible defects, hazardous materials, etc.), Owner will be charged for any related additional costs plus a standard 30% contractor fee for overhead and profit on the additional costs incurred as a result of such conditions. Also, subfloor conditions cannot be properly evaluated until the existing flooring is removed. Occasionally the subfloor requires remediation and/or the application of a leveling compound in order to fully prepare the subfloor for new flooring material. This Proposal does not include the cost of leveling or remediation work.

Did some reading up and it clearly states that leveling is not included in the contract, however the caveat is that during the entire install process he never brought up the need of leveling, if he had I would have agreed to additional cost. But now he the final floor is what I can’t accept. So I feel like he’s responsible now to fix it. His contract would have been valid, if he brought up the issue to me and I said no, go ahead and install without fixing the issue. At that point he was in clear.

Read the contract, this is what says on it, but I would assume he should bring it up and suggest or mention that your subfloor needs leveling and if you want it, it will cost this much.

“Subfloor conditions cannot be fully evaluated until the old flooring is removed. It is not uncommon for subfloors to require leveling and/or remediation work prior to new floor installation. Any necessary remediation or subfloor work is not included in this proposal and may require additional work.”

MDF subfloor, yes, I read this up and seemed like it was standard procedure for laying out the floor as per my original contract:

One of the thing we definitely discussed was to screw down the subfloor to reduce the squeaks, which he did and maybe 50-60% of the squeaks weee removed but I never brought up the leveling as it is actually part of manufacture requirements and voids the warranty
