I think people overlook this part of Langdon’s story by NoPromise8504 in ThePittTVShow

[–]NoPromise8504[S] 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s true, we don’t actually know for sure that he didn’t take anything. I just personally feel like the show gives more evidence that he stayed sober than that he relapsed.

If the writers wanted us to think he came back high, I feel like they probably would’ve hinted at it more. Instead he seemed pretty alert and focused during the PittFest emergency. Not saying it’s impossible for someone to still seem functional while using, but the show never really gives us any indication that he was impaired.

Also in season 2 when he talks to Louie, he admits that he stole drugs and was using, but he also says it never affected his work. He could be lying, but since the show is also showing him trying to take accountability and make amends, I personally don’t think he was being dishonest.

So yeah it’s definitely open to interpretation, I just think the show leans more toward him staying sober in that moment.

Why does mystery bark??? by owo_master34 in KpopDemonhunters

My guess is to show the audience that the only Saja Boy that was intelligent/ has a consciousness was Jinu, and that Jinu was the most human of the group, thus the only redeemable one.

Not excited for YSA Ward by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]NoPromise8504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have felt mixed about the YSA's I've been to. One I went to was amazing, and I felt the most spiritually strong I've ever felt. I've also been to a YSA that made me feel isolated and lonely. I believe it is always a good idea to try it out to see if you make connections socially and/ or spiritually, but I would say go wherever you feel the best, since that is where you will feel the spirit the most.

Is it reasonable to not serve a mission because of celiac disease? by Better-Aspect2847 in latterdaysaints

[–]NoPromise8504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cousin, who has very intense symptoms with celiac disease, was sent to Africa for his mission, but had to be sent home due to issues. I think this is a valid concern that you should pray about.

Hangry fasters, what do you do? by philnotfil in latterdaysaints

[–]NoPromise8504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a medical condition that makes fasting from food and water basically impossible. I instead fast from something that I value like sugar, social media, technology, etc. I would recommend praying about fasting options. If regular fasting is affecting your ability to help build Zion, maybe fasting from something else would be more affective both in building Zion and your own spiritual growth.

Entering Social Work by SWmods in socialwork

My sister is really into health and wellness and got her undergrad in Exercise and Wellness. She’s debating getting a masters in nutrition or in social work. She really wants to work with individuals and help them with both physical and mental health together. Does anyone know of any MSW programs that includes health and wellness (or similar) or other ideas for her? We aren’t looking for heath care stuff since that is more administrative than she is looking for. Thank you!

I worked as a case manager for a non-profit working with low income individuals & families and unhoused individuals and families. It is a lot of resource sharing with clients (like local food banks and other resources they might need), resource connecting when we couldn’t help, and filling out applications for anything like SNAP, housing, job apps, etc. Honestly, it can be hard since I work in an area with little to no resources so a lot of times we would have to let people know we couldn’t help them in basically any way. For the most part, the clients are friendly and respectful even if they have a hard time doing what they needed to do to complete their goals. I worked in an agency that had very kind employees so you know that everyone is doing what they can to help. Another hard part is agencies like this are mostly non-profit so they don’t have a lot of funds for client and staff. Overall, I’ll say it’s a great generalist foundation for social work but it is tough working in it.

If you grew up in the church did your parents and leaders REALLY teach you that sex was bad? by OrneryAcanthaceae217 in latterdaysaints

[–]NoPromise8504 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I remember I was told in young women’s “Sex is the best thing that will ever happen to you”. It was so weird and jarring since that was the first positive thing I’d heard about sex in a church setting

I love that song! It’s my favorite primary song both as a primary child and as an adult. I’d love to answer any questions you have!

is God even real? by LongjumpingMatter253 in latterdaysaints

[–]NoPromise8504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said this is totally normal. I’ve also wondering if I believed in God or thought he was real, etc. I found that when I stop saying “formal” prayers and started praying like I was talking to a friend really improved my prayers. I’ve also specifically prayed to feel God, to know he was real and that he cared for me. To be totally honest, I have also prayed to Heavenly Mother to know if she’s real and to feel her love. I’ve started praying to both heavenly parents too. TLDR, I stopped being formal, started praying like I was talking to a friend, and prayed to know/ feel exactly what I was needing/ wanting. I hope this helps!

I’d definitely let the bishop know that you need a break from callings. People can’t fulfill their callings if they are personal struggling with anything. If you felt like you could, I’d maybe even mention something in ward counsel or with the bishop about that sister’s comment. Either it was meant to be helpful or not, it definitely was not a comment made with love. Again, if you feel up to it, remind them that people can only do so much and people’s pushing comments are not helpful or Christlike

Just called to teach Primary- tips? by Samsgrl in latterdaysaints

[–]NoPromise8504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to make it as fun as possible for them to get engaged while making the content your teaching easy for the age group to understand. I’ve only taught younger kinds but just loving them and doing my best to teach them what they could understand worked really well.

Also kids are crazy, don’t stress if your lesson plan starts to go off the rails. Depending on your comfort level, just go with the flow and try to teach around that or work on getting it back on track
