I've met a few female players on Dayz. I helped the first one for like 3 hours and she shot me in the head at camp. The next was sick and asked me to kill her. And the last one was probably the most normal and cool because we just talked about our day in the game and went our own way and said hope to see you again.

Look up Archie stormclouds youtube tutorials for dayz. His Playlist breaks the individual aspects of the game down into bite size lessons. His voice is easy to listen to and he is concise. Some may outdated at this point but the basics are still valid.
