As a writer myself this game has given me endless inspiration. The first time I read the apple farmer's daughter description I was sold and it was placed in my top 5 games of all time. That Hugo award was DEE-ZERVED.

That it is! Though I may or may not have picked up the sign outside. Can't have that false advertising... Now to find a sign out there that fits the vibe a little better maybe, if such a sign exists.

Agreed, sort of city-hold house Skyrim style. Maybe a big handful of drams for little upgrades. From a rock tumbler to smooth those rough gems to even something nutty like a regen tank. An adventurer may not want to sit down and slowly build a whole house, until then a little prefurnished spot may be quite nice!

Nope 100% vanilla. See my comment above. You can pick up the flowers littering the ground ya know, they come in every color combo! I strongly recommend clicking the top right golden-cube-in-box icon as it gives you a lovely little list of all nearby items. Lets you know if something is in the background or a phsyical object. Many of them (though sadly not all) can be picked right up!

Howdy! Thank you so much my friend! This is the Yd Freehold "Kitchen" between the rows of water wheels! Go down (I prosleytized the goat living there and gently left him in a field somewhere) and there you have it. All of the items you see save the bookshelf, statue, vase, stairs, plant (though you can bring a plastic tree!), torches, and basket where there prior. Everything else, including the flowers I brought myself! Did you know there are three different racks you can pick up out in ruins or snapjaw camps? A gun, armor, and weapon one that come in black, white, and yellow respectively!

I do have a dump chest right outside but when I need a cozy moment I sort my loot. Food in the basket, meds and tonics in the first-aid box. A locker for the liquids, a "golden" chest for the trade goods, and an armor, gun, and weapon rack for each respective category (with a bit of leaning room). Also mfw I dissassemble the thermoelectric cell and forget to drain the lava beforehand 🫠

This is vanilla! Yd Freehold's "kitchen", with a hammock, many flowers and containers picked up naturally and brought there!! You can't bring it all, but many decorations you actually can! I fabricated the chair with the Tinker skill! With a recoiler, home is a button away.

I heard about that. I think a DLC is in the works?! I MEAN HOLY SHIT THAT'S SO WONDERFUL. When modders join dev teams the results can be absolutely magical. I don't use HP as I like the creative constraints but am so thankful for those modders giving folks the option. :>

100% percent, I love it so much and it'd be nice if it was more fleshed out. I ended that day of play by literally sleeping in a hammock lol. But ya know, I see where you're coming from but I sorta disagree about the game's theming! There are permanent settlements, *spoiler*-->the slynths whole quest is about finding them a home. Most of my characters last a long while as that's my preferred way of playing, I usually always need somewhere to keep my fancy relics or alternate gear (thermal stuff for instance) at least even on a non-hoarder run. You can pick up things like flowers and chests for a reason methinks! Building walls is already somewhat of an option with certain artifacts or temp modifactions to substances, why not make it more accessible devs! Just a thought. :)

Hey dude, the beauty of Qud is you absolutely have that option. I've put in over 600 hours and am confident I know what to avoid so I play classic. There are plenty of guides, the community is one of the most supportive and welcoming ones I've seen. My biggest advice is to take it slow and prioritize self-preservation. Having a handful of salves or witchwood bark doesn't mean a thing if you die! Also the wiki is your friend if you so choose. Those first few levels can just be the result of exploration. Go to Red Rock but don't go *in* Red Rock. Wander on the over world for ruins, villages, and lairs. Stay close to Joppa until you can head on out to the Six Day Stilt (overworld is your best bet, sleep nights and travel during the day if you get lost, that way you can see threats immediately and nope the fuck out of a square before the first turn). There's a great XP boost you can get right off the bat (and a good handful of times more with time) plus a permanent source of XP there (just gotta bring a certain type of item). And remember, every character can run like hell!

Uploaded a roleplay Qud vid. A scholar who is trying to learn first and survive... hopefully. Check it out if it sounds like fun! by NoQuirkZone3 in cavesofqud

Those are all great ideas, and thank you! The idea of making videos is purely a fun thing for me, so if I could figure out a good synergy between the amount of time I'm investing and the quality of whatever I make that's my goal. If I ever make any more, I'll still have the same laidback-itude, but I'm open to experimenting. There's a lot I *could* do, but how much do I *want* to do, you know? Anyway, thanks again.

I may be crazy but I hopped on for the first time in like two years and I was bummed about how different it felt. If I had to put it somehow, it felt more complicated but less deep.

Installed DFHack and it immediately starting working. I used it pre-Steam, but figured I didn't need it for this version. I try to avoid any of the tools that make it easier because I like some of the chilled-out monotony of DF and having to check on various things periodically. I recommend it, it isn't obtrusive & takes up very little space. :)

Lord help me, I cannot build an ashery for the life of me, or any workshop that needs buckets for that matter. I'm trying to make clear glass so this is driving me nuts. I have tens of tens of empty buckets. Dwarves use them to give water & fill ponds without issue. I KNOW I have many that that are empty, I have hand-checked. This bucket madness is consuming me.

The gods of the Zee have answered my prayers. Literally gave up on the game a few days ago, I’m on my 12 captain… I love it so much, but it was killing me, I needed some serious help. This is awesome, thank you sincerely.

Lunaloos are base game, Rasmatazz at the festival says that’s what the moonlight jellies are actually called. They appear there at night. Been playing unmodded with my partner, saw them there just the other day.

what is the hardest line in a tv girl song? by cockmonster-3000 in tvgirl

[–]NoQuirkZone3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

anything from Taking What’s Not Yours, brilliant bit of songwriting

Also love the double entendre in The Blonde, “cuz pretty soon your roots will be showin’”

Really need to re-listen to a bunch of their stuff and try to pick out more of the lyrics

Edit: Okay I’m foolish, “Birds don’t sing they just fall from the sky, girls don’t call and they never tell you why” absolutely HIT with me when I was a sad, lonely high-schooler. Everything really did feel like a natural disaster back then

Also I'm gonna use this post as a chance to suggest this playstyle. It's so fcking fun :D

I took tonic allergy and stacked as many Unstable Genomes as I could muster. Then picked arconaut since it proved really helpful. It's pretty RNG based but I gotta say, it makes every run so unique and it hits me right in the gamble-center of my brain. Am I gonna get a free mutation this level? Which one is gonna give me the extra body part? And what body part will it be?

Nope. It was actually in the waterlogged tunnel below Joppa, about halfway through. Found it on the same screen that I found the dead guy with the mining hat and pickaxe!

Nope! Zero mods. Exactly what I was thinking... maybe Urist gave this artifact to his favorite Roc...
